LORETTO, Pa. – The Saint Francis men's volleyball team takes on California Baptist on Saturday at DeGol Arena. Opening serve is scheduled for 4 p.m.
Saint Francis, led by head coach
Mike Rumbaugh, enters the weekend with an 8-12 overall record. SFU fell to then-No.6 UC Irvine last Wednesday in straight sets.
Adam Kniffen (Latrobe, Pa./Greater Latrobe) led the Flash with a career-high 12 kills and a team-high six digs.
DIGGING HIS WAY TO THE TOP
Sophomore
Gabe Woffindin (Allentown, Pa./William Allen) ranks third in the EIVA in digs per set (2.35) and second in digs (167). The Allentown, Pa., native has recorded double-digit digs in 12 matches this season.
BIG THREE
Jeff Hogan (Northern Cambria, Pa./Northern Cambria),
Michael Fisher (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley (Pepperdine)) and
Stephen Braswell (Manchester, Pa./Northeastern) all rank in the top-five in kills in the EIVA. Hogan is second in the EIVA with 252, Fisher ranks third with 224 while Braswell has amassed 203 and ranks fifth. The trio has accounted for 679 kills or 70 percent of the team's kills.
ABOUT THE LANCERS
California Baptist comes into Loretto with a 3-16 record. The Lancers fell to UC San Diego in four sets in conference play on Tuesday. Luis Palos and Kevin Vaz led CBU with 13 kills each. The Lancers' offense goes through Vaz and Palos, as the duo has totaled 323 kills on the season. Emmett Enriques leads California Baptist with 139 digs, while Vaz has added 49 total blocks to lead the team.
