LORETTO, Pa. – The Saint Francis Women's Tennis team takes a three-match win streak into its NEC contest at Sacred Heart this weekend. The match begins on Friday at 1:30 p.m. at the Pioneer Tennis Courts.
The Red Flash, led by Head Coach
Rob Castille, is 6-8 overall and 2-0 in NEC play after two wins last weekend. SFU knocked off Niagara, 6-1, and defeated Mount St. Mary's, 5-2, without dropping a singles match that they played in last weekend.
Sophomore
Stephanie Miller (Washington, D.C./St. John's College High School) leads the Red Flash with a 9-5 record, while playing at No. 3 and 4. Fellow sophomore
Raksha Bode (Reunion, Fla./Florida Virtual School) is 8-6, playing at No. 3 and 4, while freshman
Kathryn Dunleavy (Farmington Hills, Mich./Mercy) is 8-6 at No. 5.
Freshman
Lucia Seigford (Madrid, Spain/Mirasur) has seven wins this Spring, including three at the No. 1 spot. Rookie
Laura Gutierrez (Bogota, Colombia/Cibercolegio UCN) has five wins, with three of those coming at No. 2.
Gutierrez and Miller have combined for two wins at No. 1 doubles this Spring. Bode and Seigford also have two doubles wins, with theirs coming at No. 2.
Sacred Heart is 3-5 overall and 1-0 in the NEC. The Pioneers have wins over Monmouth (6-1), Holy Cross (7-0) and Wagner (5-2). SHU lost 7-0 against Siena and 4-3 against Providence last weekend.
