LORETTO, Pa. – The Saint Francis Women's Tennis team is set to compete in two road matches this weekend. The Red Flash will travel to the University of Buffalo on Friday for a 1 p.m. match. SFU will then meet St. Bonaventure for a 2 p.m. battle on Saturday.
The Red Flash, led by Head Coach
Rob Castille, is 3-7 this season. SFU returns to action after a two-week break following 6-1 setbacks at Temple, on February 25, and Lehigh, on February 26.
Sophomore
Stephanie Miller (Washington, D.C./St. John's College High School) leads the Red Flash with six wins this Spring, with three each coming at No. 3 and 4. NEC Rookie of the Month
Kathryn Dunleavy (Farmington Hills, Mich./Mercy) owns five wins, all at No. 5, while sophomore
Raksha Bode (Reunion, Fla./Florida Virtual School) also has five wins, playing at No. 3 and 4.
Freshman
Lucia Seigford (Madrid, Spain/Mirasur) has four dual-match wins, while playing at No. 1 and 2. Fellow rookie
Laura Gutierrez (Bogota, Colombia/Cibercolegio UCN) has two victories at No. 1 this Spring.
Gutierrez has combined with Miller and Seigford at No. 1 doubles this season. Gutierrez and Miller are 1-2 at No. 1, while Gutierrez and Seigford are 3-3 at the top doubles spot. Bode and Miller are 3-4 when playing at No. 2, while Bode and Dunleavy are 1-0 at No. 2.
Buffalo is 5-3 this Spring, with wins over St. Bonaventure (7-0), Detroit Mercy (4-3), Quinnipiac (7-0), Binghamton (7-0) and Duquesne (4-3).
Chantal Martinez Blanco is 5-3 this Spring, while playing at No. 1 and 2, and Tanja Stojanovska is 4-3, also playing at No. 1 and 2. Mercedes Losada Rubio is 5-3 at No. 2 and 3.
In doubles, Margarita Kotok and Stojanovska are 6-1 at No. 1. Martinez Blanco and Anna Savchenko have an 8-0 mark at No. 1 and No. 2.
St. Bonaventure is 3-11 in dual matches, with victories against Saint Peter's (6-1), Slippery Rock (6-1) and Binghamton (5-2).
Mara Martinez-Santori has three wins at No. 1, while Gabrielle Bowe has three wins at No. 2. Martinez-Santori and Bowe have combined for three wins at No. 1 doubles.
