MOON, PA- The Saint Francis men's golf team finished in third at the two-day Colonial Invite hosted by Robert Morris on Tuesday.
Brandon Mihalo (Windsor, Ontario, Canada/Holy Names Catholic) shot a 75 on Tuesday to lock up the top-10 finish. The junior finished in a tie for seventh overall.
Ben Morgret (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township) and
Dom Stevens (Ebensburg, Pa./Central Cambria) each finished in a tied for 16th after Stevens moved up nicely on Tuesday, ascending 17 spots after shooting a 75, while Morget shot a 79.
Austin Renz (Danville, Pa./Danville) placed 20th
after a final round 79.
Hunter Shields (Hollidaysburg, Pa./Hollidaysburg) shot a final round of 77 to finish tied for 27th while
Conall Mullarkey (London, Ontario, Canada/Regina Mundi) placed tied for 47th with a final round of 84.
Day one
SFU shot a team score of 319 to sit in a tie for fourth, just three shots behind Iona for third place. The teams dealt with windy conditions with steady winds of 15-20 miles per hour throughout the round.Â
Brandon Mihalo (Windsor, Ontario, Canada/Holy Names Catholic)Â was SFU's top finisher on Monday, shooting a 78 to sit in seventh place overall. The junior recorded one of only two eagles on the day in his round and sits three shots behind a trio of golfers in third place overall.
Ben Morgret (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township)Â recorded a pair of birdies en route to a 79 on Monday to be SFU's second finisher and sit in a tie for 11th overall.
Austin Renz (Danville, Pa./Danville)Â tied for the second-most pars in the round with 11 and his eight-over 80 has him in 16th overall after the first day and gave SFU three golfers in the top 20.
Jacob Wilson (Sharon PA/Kennedy Catholic) also recorded a pair of birdies and shot a Monday 82 and sits 27th, a stroke ahead of
Dom Stevens (Ebensburg, Pa./Central Cambria) who sits 33rd overall. The Red Flash also brought a pair of individuals to the western PA event as
Hunter Shields (Hollidaysburg, Pa./Hollidaysburg) shot a 85 to sit 37th and Connall Mullarkey shot an 86 to sit 41st.Â
The Colonial Invite wraps up tomorrow but weather could be a factor once again. The forecast calls for an 80 percent chance of rain and a high of 67.Â
