Men’s Volleyball Sweeps the Weekend with Win Over Mount Olive

Loretto Pa- The Saint Francis men's volleyball held on to sweep the weekend with a win over Mount Olive on Saturday night at DeGol Arena. The Flash won in three sets, 25-19, 25-18, and 26-24.
 
With the win, Saint Francis improves to 4-2 overall.
 
Brandon Buck (Baden, Pa./Ambridge), Stephen Braswell (Manchester, Pa./Northeastern), and Cole Thompson (Los Alamitos, Calif./Los Alamitos) led the way offensively for the Flash, as they combined for 30 kills on the night. They also dominated on the defensive side with 21 digs. Joseph Koszelak (North Tonawanda, N.Y./St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute) helped by dishing out 31 assists while also adding 10 digs. Keith Kegerreis (Chambersburg, Pa./Chambersburg) and Hayden Herc (Eden, N.Y./Eden) contributed with 6 blocks.
 
Set One:
The Red Flash started strong in the first set as they took a 4-1 lead before Mount Olive called its first timeout. After the timeout, the Trojans battled back to tie the game at 12 until Brandon Buck (Baden, Pa./Ambridge) and Stephen Braswell (Manchester, Pa./Northeastern) powered the offense to a 20-14 lead. The Red Flash contained that lead the rest of the way to take the set, 25-19.
 
Set Two:
The second set was tightly contested as both teams traded points early. SFU strung together a 6-0 run to pull ahead, 24-16 to win the set 25-18 to extend its lead to 2-0.
 
Set Three:
SFU jumped out to a 4-0 lead to begin the third set. The Trojans would eventually battle back to tie the game up at 14 and keep it close the rest of the way. Keith Kegerreis (Chambersburg, Pa./Chambersburg) sealed the deal with a block as SFU would go on to take set three and the match.
 
Saint Francis hits the road next weekend to face Lewis University on Friday and Loyola University of Chicago on Saturday. Both games start at 7 p.m.
