LORETTO, Pa. – The Saint Francis Men's Tennis team dropped a 7-0 decision at Navy on Saturday in its season opener. The Red Flash earned a win at No. 1 doubles, but dropped a tight doubles point.

At the top doubles position, senior
Alec Dylan Foo-Kune (Phoenix, Mauritius/International Connections Academy (Md.)) and freshman
Charles Morkel (Cape Town, South Africa/Paul Roos Gymnasium) met Navy's Peter Lohrbach and Andrey Majkic. The Red Flash duo earned a 6-2 victory to improve to 1-4 overall.

Sophomore
Franz Luna (Guatemala City, Guatemala/Laurel Springs) and freshman
Sebastian Pinos (Quito, Ecuador/Compuinformatica) matched up at No. 2 against the Midshipmen's Matthew Lee and Gabriel Pilones. The SFU pair fell 6-2 to move to 3-2 overall.

In the match at No. 3, junior
Chad Allender (Altoona, Pa./Altoona Area) and sophomore
Samuel Miller (Smithfield, R.I./Homeschool) combined against Navy's Romesh Kahatapitiya and Joshua Martin. The Red Flash duo held a 4-3 advantage, but dropped a 6-4 decision in their first match this year.
"Overall, I was pleased with how we competed in doubles," said Head Coach
Rob Castille. "We did a lot of good things tonight that we can build off of. I think some nerves were involved as well as this was the first dual match for four of our guys. It's a good learning experience and we'll keep getting better with each match."

Foo-Kune took on Navy's Andrew Ton at the top singles spot. The Saint Francis senior fell 6-2, 6-0 and is now 4-4 this Spring this year.

At No. 2 singles, Luna faced the Midshipmen's Aries Wong. The Red Flash sophomore dropped a tight first set, 7-6, including 7-1 in the tiebreaker. Luna bounced back to earn a 6-2 victory in the second set. In the deciding set, Luna fell 10-1. He moved to 3-4 overall.

Morkel competed at No. 3 against Navy's Zach Jennings. The SFU freshman fell 6-0, 6-1 to drop to 4-4 this year.

In the match at No. 4 singles, Pinos met Navy's Greg Durham. The Red Flash rookie fell 6-3, 6-2 to move to 4-4 this season.

In his SFU debut, Miller matched up against the Midshipmen's Walker Sims at No. 5. The SFU sophomore dropped a 6-1, 6-3 decision.

Also competing in his first match as a member of the Red Flash, Allender took on Navy's Andrew Hicks at No. 6. The SFU junior dropped a 6-2, 7-5 result.
"In singles, Navy was just too strong from top to bottom," said Castille. "We competed well but today was just not our day. We'll focus on a few things that we can improve upon and try to apply them to our match tomorrow against James Madison."

The Red Flash continues its opening weekend on Sunday as it visits James Madison for a 10 a.m. match.
