HARRISONBURG, Va. – The Saint Francis Men's Tennis team fell 6-1 at James Madison on Sunday as it continued its season opening weekend. The Red Flash earned one singles win, but JMU swept the doubles action and won five singles matches. SFU fell to 0-2 on the season, while the Dukes improved to 1-0.

At the top singles position, sophomore
Franz Luna (Guatemala City, Guatemala/Laurel Springs) met James Madison's Damon Roberts. After dropping the opening set, 6-2, Luna bounced back to win the next set, 6-2. In the deciding set, another 6-2 decision, Luna came out on top. Luna is now 4-5 overall.

Senior
Alec Dylan Foo-Kune (Phoenix, Mauritius/International Connections Academy (Md.)) competed against JMU's Paul Mendoza at No. 2, but fell 7-6(5), 6-1, while freshman
Charles Morkel (Cape Town, South Africa/Paul Roos Gymnasium) matched up against the Dukes' Alvaro Arce at No. 3, but dropped a 6-0, 6-4 decision.

At No. 4, freshman
Sebastian Pinos (Quito, Ecuador/Compuinformatica) took on JMU's Pierre Kohler. The Red Flash rookie fell 6-3 in the first set, but responded with a tough 7-6(3) win in the second set. In a super-tiebreaker third set, Pinos fell 10-5.Â

Samuel Miller (Smithfield, R.I./Homeschool) faced the Dukes' Theophile Lanthiez at No. 5, but fell 6-4, 6-2. At No. 6, junior
Chad Allender (Altoona, Pa./Altoona Area) met JMU's Tate Steinour, but dropped a 6-0, 6-2 decision.

At the top doubles spot, Foo-Kune and Morkel competed against James Madison's Lanthiez and Mendoza. The Red Flash duo fell 6-4 and is now 1-1 this spring.

Luna and Pinos took on JMU's Arce and Kohler at No. 2. The SFU pair dropped a 6-4 result. Allender and Miller faced the Dukes' Gonzalo Adis and Roberts at No. 3, but fell 6-3.
"I thought we did some better things today that we wanted to focus on after our match with Navy," said Head Coach
Rob Castille. "James Madison is a deep and well-coached team and credit goes to them. I feel we are competing well at times during the match, but we are having lapses. We need to be better at competing from the first point to the last. This is something we will stress moving forward and look to improve for our next match."

The Red Flash returns to action next weekend, with its home opener against Wright State on Sunday, January 28. The match begins at 11:30 a.m. at The Club Sport and Health in Monroeville.
