Men's Tennis Faces Wright State In Home Opener On Sunday

LORETTO, Pa. – The Saint Francis Men's Tennis team hosts Wright State on Sunday in its home opener.  The Red Flash and the Raiders will meet at 11:30 a.m. at The Club Sport and Health in Monroeville.
 
Saint Francis, led by Head Coach Rob Castille, is looking for its first win of the season after an 0-2 start last weekend.  SFU fell 7-0 at Navy and 6-1 at James Madison in matches against two very good opponents. 
 
Sophomore Franz Luna (Guatemala City, Guatemala/Laurel Springs) earned a singles win last weekend with a 2-6, 6-2, 6-2 victory against JMU's Damon Roberts.  In doubles, senior Alec Dylan Foo-Kune (Phoenix, Mauritius/International Connections Academy (Md.)) and freshman Charles Morkel (Cape Town, South Africa/Paul Roos Gymnasium) picked up a 6-2 win over Navy's Peter Lohrbach and Andrey Majkic. 
 
Four players are tied for the team lead with four overall wins this year.  Luna, Morkel and freshman Sebastian Pinos (Quito, Ecuador/Compuinformatica) are each 4-5, while Foo-Kune owns a 4-6 mark.  Newcomers Chad Allender (Altoona, Pa./Altoona Area) and Samuel Miller (Smithfield, R.I./Homeschool) will look for their first victories this weekend.
 
In doubles, Luna and Pinos have combined for a 3-3 record and competed at the No. 2 position last weekend.  Foo-Kune and Morkel are 1-5 and played both of their matches at No. 1.  Allender and Miller competed at No. 3.
 
Wright State, led by Head Coach Eric Burns, is also looking for its first win after dropping a 6-1 decision against Toledo last Sunday.  Senior Michal Kianicka led the Raiders with a win at No. 1 singles and combined with senior Fernando Nardelli for a victory at No. 1 doubles.  Kianicka leads the team with an 8-6 overall record, while sophomore Param Pun is 6-6 overall.
