LORETTO, Pa. – The Saint Francis Women's Tennis team is set to take on Sacred Heart on Friday at The Club Sport and Health in Monroeville. The Red Flash meets the Pioneers for a 2 p.m. match to continue NEC play.
The Red Flash, led by Head Coach
Rob Castille, is 2-9 overall after its dominant 6-1 win over St. Francis Brooklyn in its NEC opener. Saint Francis won both doubles matches and all five singles matches it played without dropping a set.
Sophomore
Lucia Seigford (Madrid, Spain/Mirasur) claimed a win at No. 1 singles, with sophomore
Laura Gutierrez (Bogota, Colombia/Cibercolegio UCN) earning a victory at No. 2. Junior
Raksha Bode (Reunion, Fla./Florida Virtual School) came out on top at No. 3, while freshman
Nastasia Tamarkin (Washington, D.C./School Without Walls) won at No. 4. Junior
Stephanie Miller (Washington, D.C./St. John's College High School) earned a victory at No. 5.
Gutierrez and Tamarkin combined for a win at No. 1 doubles, while Bode and Seigford claimed a victory at No. 2.
Miller and Tamarkin are tied for the team-lead with six singles wins each. Miller has five wins at No. 4 this Spring. Tamarkin has played mostly at No. 5, picking up five wins. Bode has four victories, all coming at No. 3, while Gutierrez owns three wins at No. 2 and Seigford has two wins at No. 1.
In doubles, Gutierrez and Tamarkin are 5-5 at the top doubles position. Bode and Seigford have combined for a 2-2 mark at No. 2.
Sacred Heart is 4-8 this season and will take on SFU in its NEC opener. The Pioneers own wins over Monmouth (7-0), Holy Cross (7-0), Hofstra (4-3) and Saint Peter's (7-0).
