NORMAN, Okla. – The Saint Francis Softball team is set for a matchup on Wednesday with two-time defending national champion Oklahoma at Marita Hynes Field.  The Sooners are currently ranked No. 5 in the USA Today/NFCA Coaches Poll.  First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET with a broadcast on Fox Sports Oklahoma.

The Red Flash, led by Head Coach Jennifer Patrick-Swift, is 11-9 this season after going 2-3 at the Mizuno Classic, hosted by No. 23 Oklahoma State, this past weekend.  SFU began the tournament with a tough 7-6, 11-inning loss vs. Omaha, but bounced back for a 4-1 win over Maine. On Saturday, SFU fell 8-3 against Maine but responded with a 5-2 victory over Omaha.  The classic concluded on Sunday with the Red Flash dropping a 9-3 decision against the Cowgirls.

Oklahoma, coached by NFCA Hall of Famer Patty Gasso, is 13-2 this season and went 4-0 this past weekend as it hosted the Courtyard Marriott Tournament.  OU earned wins over Missouri State (6-0, 9-0) and Abilene Christian (8-0, 8-1).

SERIES HISTORY
Saint Francis meets Oklahoma for the first time in program history.  The Red Flash is 2-4 against current Big 12 teams, with both wins coming in 2017 at Texas Tech, 12-10 in eight innings and 3-1.

This is SFU's fourth game against a Top 10 team since 2014.  This marks Saint Francis' first ever matchup with a defending national champion.

APPROACHING 200 WINS
With 198 wins, Head Coach Jennifer Patrick-Swift is approaching her 200th win at Saint Francis.  Since taking over the program in 2012, Patrick-Swift is 198-142, winning nearly 60 percent of the games she has coached at SFU.  Patrick-Swift has already more than doubled the previous wins record at SFU, set by Rudy "Skip" Galayda, who had 93 wins from 1994-98.

In Patrick-Swift's tenure, Saint Francis has increased its wins total each of the last six seasons, including last year's program and NEC-record 49 wins.  Last year, Patrick-Swift led the Red Flash to its first ever NEC Title, first ever NCAA Tournament appearance and first NCAA Tournament win.

STRONG IN THE CIRCLE
The Red Flash is off to a solid start in the circle this year, with a 2.50 team ERA and a .213 batting average against.  Adrian Smith (Clairsville, Ohio/St. Clairsville) owns a team-best 2.45 ERA and a 3-3 record, including four complete games and two shutouts.  She has four outings in which she has gone at least five innings and allowed one or less run.

COLLECTING DINGERS
After hitting 146 homers in the last two seasons, Saint Francis is once again on track to be among the top power teams in the nation.  With nine homers this past weekend, SFU is up to 23 on the season.  Saint Francis ranks 15th in the nation in home runs per game, with 1.15, and 20th in total homers.

Senior Madison Cabell (Ivor, Va./Southampton) ranks 11th in the nation with seven homers, which is more than 122 DI teams, including eight NEC teams.  Mikayla Bower (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport) and Kassidy Troxell (Navarre, Ohio/Perry) have four each and Hayley Norton (Spring Grove, Pa./Spring Grove) has three homers.  Jordy Frank homered twice this past weekend as one of eight SFU players with at least one homer this season.
