SOPHOMORE (2018) – NEC Tournament MVP… NEC All-Tournament Team… Appeared in 29 games, including 19 starts and 12 complete games… Went 11-7 with a 2.74 ERA and recorded two saves. In 125.1 innings, allowed 123 hits, 64 runs (49 earned) and 43 walks, while striking out 109… In NEC play, was 5-0 with a 1.63 ERA in eight appearances (six starts) and 50 strikeouts in 34.1 innings… Had eight appearances where she pitched five or more innings and did not allow an earned run… NEC Pitcher of the Week on February 12… Opened the season with a complete-game shutout vs. Presbyterian (2/9), allowing just three hits and striking out seven in seven innings… In 5.1 innings against Presbyterian (2/10), gave up just one run on five hits… Fired a complete-game vs. Georgia State (2/17), allowing four hits and an unearned run… Followed with a seven-inning shutout vs. Canisius (2/23), giving up just four hits and striking out five… Allowed just one run in 4.1 innings against Canisius (2/24) in game two… Gave up a run in two innings of relief at Oklahoma State (3/4)… Against Omaha (3/16), gave up two unearned runs and four hits while striking out six… Threw a complete-game shutout vs. Mount St. Mary’s (3/31), allowing four hits and striking out five… In five innings at Marshall (4/3), allowed an unearned run and three hits… Allowed just one run on three hits in seven innings at Wagner (4/14), while striking out a career-high 11… In a complete-game vs. CCSU (4/21), allowed two runs and five hits and struck out nine… Followed with a seven-inning, 11-strikeout performance vs. Bryant (4/22), giving up four hits and three runs… Threw two perfect innings of relief at Robert Morris (5/2), striking out five… In five innings, allowed three hits and an unearned run and struck out seven against Fairleigh Dickinson (5/7)… In 5.2 innings vs. Sacred Heart (5/11), in the NEC Tournament, did not allow a run on four hits and struck out six… In the NEC Championship Game vs. LIU Brooklyn (5/12), threw all five innings, giving up a run on four hits and striking out three… Threw 5.2 innings in the NCAA Regional game vs. Mississippi State (5/19).
FRESHMAN (2017) – Appeared in 22 games, including 11 starts, with one at third base and 10 as designated player… Batted .176 with six hits, including a double, a homer, five RBI and three runs. Drew five walks and stole a base… Appeared in two games in the circle, with a 7.00 ERA in three innings. Allowed three runs on four hits, with a strikeout and two walks… First college hit was a two-run double against UMass (2/24)… Threw two shutout innings against Rhode Island (3/11), allowing two hits and striking out a batter… Had a single against Texas Tech (3/18), Mount St. Mary’s (4/15) and Sacred Heart (4/29) and scored a run at Central Connecticut State (4/23)… First career homer was a three-run shot in the first inning against Wagner (4/30)… Had a hit and scored a run in the NEC Tournament game against Wagner (5/12).
BEFORE SFU – Smith played four years of varsity softball at St. Clairsville High School for head coach Rachel Duncan… As a senior, Smith went 9-1 in the circle, with a 2.57 ERA and 146 strikeouts. She was named Buckeye 8 First Team and All-Times Leader First Team… As a junior, Smith was a First Team All-Ohio selection as well as an All-OVAC honoree. She was named Eastern District Div. III Co-Player of the Year and Buckeye 8 First Team All-League… In the circle as a junior, Smith earned a 19-3 record, with a 0.46 ERA and 254 strikeouts in 133 innings. At the plate, she hit .403 with seven doubles, nine home runs and 39 RBI. She drew 22 walks and scored 32 runs, while slugging .903 with a .542 on-base percentage.
PERSONAL – Smith plans to major in Marketing at Saint Francis.
