The Patriots Over Throw the Red Flash in Straight Sets

Flash Points:  
Fairfax, VA- The Saint Francis men's volleyball team falls in straight sets to George Mason on Friday night at Recreation Athletic Complex. The Flash fell 12-25, 21-25, and 19-25.
 
With the loss, the Red Flash drop to 8-18 overall and 3-8 in conference play. George Mason improves to 15-10 and remains perfect with an 11-0 record in the EIVA.
 
Junior Cole Thompson (Los Alamitos, Calif./Los Alamitos) led the Red Flash with team-high 7 kills while also contributing with 4 digs. Stephen Braswell (Manchester, Pa./Northeastern) and Brandon Buck (Baden, Pa./Ambridge) also chipped in with 6 kills as Braswell added a team-high 6 digs defensively. Freshman Roman Szwabinsky (Columbus, Ohio/Westerville South High School) dished out 23 assist on the night.
 
Set One
Both teams opened the first set by exchanging points until George Mason jumped out to a 13-7 lead and forced SFU to call its first timeout. Out of the timeout, GMU would continue to add to its lead and eventually go on to win the set, 25-12.
 
Set Two
Majority of the second set was a back and forth battle until SFU would break away with a 3-0 run to lead 16-13. A few Red Flash attack errors would allow the Patriots to gain some momentum and tie things up at 19. They would sustain their momentum the rest of the way and take set two, 25-21.
 
Set Three
Down 0-2, Cole Thompson (Los Alamitos, Calif./Los Alamitos) helps the Red Flash open the third with a 4-0 lead. The Patriots would eventually fight back and tie things up at 6. The remainder of the set would be a back and forth battle until George Mason would go on a 6-0 to win the set, 25-19.
 
The Red flash will look to bounce back tomorrow as they head to Charleston, WV to take on University of Charleston. The match is set to start at 7 p.m.
