Softball Visits Robert Morris For Final NEC Road Trip

LORETTO, Pa. – The Saint Francis Softball team travels to Robert Morris on Wednesday for its final NEC road trip of the season.  The doubleheader begins at 1 p.m. at the North Athletic Complex.  The games will be streamed on NEC Front Row.
 
The Red Flash, led by Head Coach Jennifer Patrick-Swift, is 32-17 overall and 12-0 in the NEC.  Saint Francis clinched the NEC Regular Season Title with a sweep at Sacred Heart on Saturday, including 2-1 and 1-0 wins.  SFU is riding a 12-game win streak.
 
Robert Morris, coached by Craig Coleman, is 10-32 overall and 1-11 in league play.  Last weekend, the Colonials dropped two games against Wagner, falling 2-0 and 8-2.
 
SERIES HISTORY
Saint Francis trails the all-time series, 56-29-1, against Robert Morris.  The Red Flash won all three matchups last season, including a 4-3 win in the NEC Tournament.
 
NEC REGULAR SEASON CHAMPIONS
The Red Flash has clinched its second straight NEC Regular Season Title with a 12-0 record.  No other NEC team has less than five conference losses.  The NEC Tournament will again be hosted in Loretto on May 10-12. 

The Red Flash currently has the longest conference win streak in Division I.  Saint Francis has won 31 straight NEC games dating back to the 2016 season.  SFU is tied with Jacksonville State (2015-17) for the 10th longest conference win streak in NCAA Division I history.  SFU is one win away from tying Fresno State (32, 2015-16) and two wins away from tying Princeton (33, 1993-96).

SFU's last NEC loss came on May 13, 2016 in the NEC Tournament vs. Robert Morris.  SFU's last NEC regular season loss came on May 5, 2016 against Central Connecticut State.  Of those 31 wins, 11 have come by run-rule and 10 have been shutouts.  Saint Francis is averaging eight runs per game in NEC play this season, while batting .348 with 25 homers.
 
SFU SEVENTH NATIONALLY IN HOMERS
With one homer this weekend, a go-ahead homer by Jordan Seneca (Plum, Pa./Plum), the Red Flash now has 61 homers this season, already the third-most in a season at SFU.  The Red Flash seventh in Division I, behind Coastal Carolina (68), Arizona (65), James Madison (65), Eastern Kentucky (64), Oklahoma (63) and Oregon (62). SFU ranks ninth in the nation in home runs per game, with 1.24.

Six SFU players have at least six homers this season, led by Madison Cabell (Ivor, Va./Southampton)'s 13. Cabell paces the NEC in homers and RBI (43).  Hayley Norton (Spring Grove, Pa./Spring Grove) has 10 bombs, while Mikayla Bower (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport) has eight, Sierra McKee (DuBois, Pa./DuBois) has seven and Cheyenne McKee (DuBois, Pa./DuBois) and Kassidy Troxell (Navarre, Ohio/Perry) each have six.  Jordan Seneca (Plum, Pa./Plum) is right behind with five.
Saint Francis is the only team in Division I that has six players with at least six homers.
 
TRAHAN WINS FIFTH NEC PITCHER OF THE WEEK AWARD
Sophomore Abby Trahan (Kaplan, La./Kaplan) collected her fifth NEC Pitcher of the Week Award after going 2-0 and allowing only one unearned run in two complete games.  In 14 innings, Trahan gave up just three hits, while walking just one batter and striking out 11.  Trahan has won three straight NEC Pitcher of the Week awards and six in her career.

In game one, Trahan gave up just one hit and an unearned run, recording five strikeouts and retiring the final 12 batters of the game.

Game two featured Trahan retiring 22 of the 24 batters she faced. She retired 12 of the first 13 batters.  She allowed just two singles and struck out six. 

The sophomore is 24-11 with a 2.40 ERA in 39 appearances.  In 221.1 innings, she has 169 strikeouts.  Trahan has already set SFU season marks for wins and innings, while tying the appearances record.  Trahan is just five wins away from tying the NEC season record and ranks third nationally in wins.  In conference play, Trahan is 8-0 with an 0.56 ERA and 41 strikeouts in 50 innings.
 
RECORDS WATCH
Several Red Flash already own career records or are approaching career records.  Jordan Seneca (Plum, Pa./Plum) already has the SFU career marks for home runs (45), runs (173) and walks (146) and is now approaching the stolen base record.  Seneca is also the NEC's all-time leader in home runs.  Seneca's 52 career stolen bases are just one behind Kelly Slingwine (2006-09).  Seneca also ranks second at SFU with 154 career RBI.
 
Madison Cabell (Ivor, Va./Southampton) is the RBI leader in program history with 174. Cabell ranks second at SFU with 46 doubles, six away from the record, and third with 35 homers.  She's also third at SFU in hits (191) and second in walks (87). 
 
Cheyenne McKee (DuBois, Pa./DuBois) is second at SFU with 145 runs, while Sierra McKee (DuBois, Pa./DuBois) is third in runs (126) and fifth in walks (80) and stolen bases (36).  Hayley Norton (Spring Grove, Pa./Spring Grove) is second all-time in homers (36) and third in RBI (137).
 
Abby Trahan (Kaplan, La./Kaplan) is one win away from tying Ethel Santai (Pine Grove, Pa./Pine Grove Area) and Stacey Scofield for fifth all-time at SFU.  Trahan currently has 39 career wins. 
 
HOME SWEET HOME
Saint Francis has won 17 straight home games.  In six home games this season, SFU is outscoring its opponents 51-9. The 17 straight wins include seven run-rule victories and four shutouts.  The Red Flash is batting .373 with 56 hits and 20 homers at home this year, averaging 8.5 runs and 9.3 hits per game.
 
SCOUTING THE COLONIALS
Robert Morris, led by Head Coach Craig Coleman, is 10-32 overall and 1-11 in the NEC.  The Colonials enter the doubleheader looking to snap a 10-game skid, including two losses against Wagner last weekend.
 
The Colonials rank sixth in the NEC with 3.3 and seventh with a team average of .238.  Natalie Higgins is batting .372 with two homers and 22 RBI.  Abrielle McCartney has a .292 average to go with two homers and 22 RBI.
 
Robert Morris has a team ERA of 4.98, ranking seventh in the NEC, and allows an opposing average of .316.  Madison Riggle is 4-11 with a 4.51 ERA in 27 appearances, while Laura Coutler is 2-8 with a 4.89 ERA in 22 appearances.  Kaitlin Ellzy has a 5.29 ERA and 4-10 record in 25 appearances.
