LORETTO, Pa. – The Saint Francis Men's Tennis and Women's Lacrosse teams have been selected as Sportsmanship Award winners by the Northeast Conference. The award is voted on by the league's coaches. This marks the fourth time since 2010 that the Red Flash Men's Tennis team has won the NEC Sportsmanship Award. Women's Lacrosse on the Sportsmanship Award for the second time in program history.
The Red Flash Men's Tennis team, led by Head Coach
Rob Castille, won eight matches this season, including a 4-1 record against NEC opponents. Saint Francis entered the NEC Tournament as the No. 3 seed and advanced to the NEC Semifinals for the fifth straight season before falling 4-3 against Wagner.
Senior
Alec Dylan Foo-Kune (Phoenix, Mauritius/International Connections Academy (Md.)) and sophomore
Franz Luna (Guatemala City, Guatemala/Laurel Springs) earned First Team All-NEC honors in singles. Foo-Kune earned the fourth All-NEC selection of his career after going 17-11 this season, including 13-7 in dual matches. Luna won 11 matches at No. 1 singles to pick up his second First Team All-NEC accolade.
The Red Flash Women's Lacrosse team, led by Head Coach
Kara Concheck, set a program record with seven wins this season. Saint Francis won three of its last four games to finish the season with a 3-4 mark in NEC play. In just two and a half seasons, Concheck has already surpassed Greg Gebhard as the all-time wins leader in program history with 16 career victories.
Senior midfielder
Jessica Mazzur (Dallastown, Pa./York Catholic) and sophomore defender
Peyton LeConte (Ellicott City, Md./Mt. Hebron) were both selected as First Team All-NEC. Mazzur led the NEC in points (67) and ranked second in goals (46). LeConte led SFU with 28 caused turnovers and ranked second in the NEC with 47 ground balls.
