Saint Louis, Mo. - Senior
Brea Seabrook's (Wilkes Barre, Pa./GAR Memorial) game-winning goal with 31 seconds left capped a late SFU rally as they came from behind to beat Saint Louis 3-2 and move to 2-0 in A-10 play.
Ceretta's Reaction
"Saint Louis came out and challenged us throughout the game but we were able to come together, stay composed and win the game," said head coach
Betta Ceretta. "We will look to carry the momentum into Sunday."
Turning Point
Saint Francis trailed most of the second half but drew level with just 4:09 remaining on junior
Taylor Nesmith's (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) third goal of the season. Senior
Brianna Govia (St. James, Trinidad/Holy Name) set up the goal with her team-leading fifth assist. Nesmith's equalizer set the stage for Seabrook's game-winner which came directly from a penalty corner. Nesmith recorded the assist, capping a productive one goal, one assist performance.
Moments that Mattered
Seabrook wasted little time getting SFU on the scoreboard, finding the net 5:46 into the first half. The lead was short-lived as Saint Louis struck 44 seconds layer.Â
The teams went into the half deadlocked at 1-1 but the Billikens took the lead in the 42nd minute. It would hold up until SFU's late scoring barrage.
