Loretto, Pa – The Saint Francis Red Flash field hockey team (5-6, 2-1) were outlasted by VCU in overtime, falling 1-0 in a highly contested conference matchup.

"I think the team played well on both ends. This is a confidence boost for us to know we can go toe-to-toe with a tough team. Unfortunately, the ball did not bounce our way and we were unable to convert on our chances."
How It Happened
Both teams played well defensively, shutting down each others offense and limiting scoring opportunities. Each goalkeeper made three saves in regulation forcing the game to be decided in a 10 minute golden goal overtime period. During the overtime period, the Red Flash were whistled for a green card and the Rams took advantage of the player advantage by scoring on the ensuing attack.
