Track & Field Heads to the SPIRE Midwest Open and the PSU National

Loretto, Pa.- The Saint Francis track & field teams split up this weekend to compete in the SPIRE Midwest Open and the Penn State National.

The Red Flash are coming off an unexpected hiatus as a brutal blizzard caused the cancellation of the Gulden Invitational. Inclement weather has proved to be the only force capable of stopping Dashaun Jackson's (Harrisburg, Pa./Harrisburg) hot streak. The sprinter has twice broken the school record in the 60 meter hurdles.

Jackson leads the small contingent of Red Flash competitors at the PSU National. Pole vault wizards Taylor Thurnherr (Hamburg, N.Y./Hamburg) and Taylor Weaver (Butler, Pa./Butler) are part of the caravan along with Hannah Jones (Hershey, Pa./Hershey), Christopher Frederick (Woodbridge, Va./Gar-Field), Richard Gilchrist (Harrisburg, Pa./Harrisburg (SciTech Campus)), Benjamin Ross (Hummelstown, Pa./Lower Dauphin), and Jeremie Venne (Greely, Ontario, Canada/Ecole secondaire catholique Franco-Cite/ University of Ottawa).

The majority of the teams head to the SPIRE Midwest Open to compete against a large number of teams. The Red Flash participated last year in the SPIRE Midwest Open and achieved a number of successful performances.
