Red Flash return to the courts at Toledo and Detroit Mercy

Loretto, Pa. – Saint Francis women's tennis (1-3) gets back in the swing of things this weekend when the Red Flash travel to play at Toledo on Friday, Feb. 1 at 1 p.m. and Detroit Mercy on Saturday, Feb. 2 at 6 p.m.

The Red Flash are coming off back-to-back defeats at Youngstown State and Duquesne last weekend. Toledo (1-0) opened its season with a 7-0 victory over Valparaiso last week, while Detroit Mercy (0-1) dropped a 4-3 decision at Illinois State in its season-opener.

Seniors Raksha Bode (Reunion, Fla./Florida Virtual School) and Stephanie Miller (Washington, D.C./St. John's College High School) paced SFU with singles wins last weekend. No. 1 singles player junior Lucia Seigford (Madrid, Spain/Mirasur) and No. 2 junior Laura Gutierrez (Bogota, Colombia/Cibercolegio UCN) are both 1-3 in singles matches this season. Bode and Miller have split time at No. 3 and No. 4 and each hold a 2-2 record in singles play. Freshman Romina Cutipa (Huancayo, Peru/San Juan Bosco) is 2-2 at No. 5 singles.

In doubles action, Bode and Seigford have been a solid 2-2 at No. 1 doubles, while Gutierrez and Miller are 1-2 at No. 2 doubles. Gutierrez and Cutipa are 0-1 when teaming up at No. 2 doubles.
