Calgary, Alberta, Canada-  Former Saint Francis defensive back Lorenzo Jerome (Sunrise, Fla./J.P. Taravella) (SFU '17) has signed a deal with the Calgary Stampeders of the Canadian Football League.

Jerome will be added to the active roster of the Stampeders as they begin their preparation for the 2019 season which begins on May 31st with an exhibition game against the Saskatchewan Roughriders. The Stampeders are coming off a 14-5 season where they won the 106th Grey Cup over the Ottawa Red Blacks. 

The Sunrise, Florida native last played for the Seattle Seahawks during their pre-season camp in 2018, and was one of the final roster cuts to the 53-man roster.  In 2017, Jerome played in four games with the 49ers after signing as an un-drafted free agent and making the opening 53-man roster.  In four games, Jerome made three tackles, including two solo.  He had two tackles, with a solo stop, against the Arizona Cardinals and a solo tackle against the Indianapolis Colts.
 
With his appearance against the Carolina Panthers in week one, he became the first Saint Francis player to appear in an NFL regular season game since Joe Restic played for the Philadelphia Eagles in 1952.

While at Saint Francis, Jerome was a decorated defensive back as he earned All-America honors as a junior and senior as a safety and kick returner.  He also became the NEC's first ever four-time First Team selection.  Jerome's 18 career interceptions rank second all-time in SFU and NEC history and helped him to become the first player in program and conference history to earn invitations to the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl, Senior Bowl and NFL Scouting Combine.  He was the MVP of the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl after recording two interceptions and followed with a two-interception performance at the Senior Bowl.
