Loretto, Pa. – The Saint Francis field hockey team (4-14, 1-6 A-10) fell to Lock Haven (10-7, 6-2 A-10) on Friday, 2-0.

In its second to last match of the season, the Red Flash traded blows with the Bald Eagles but could not come out on top.

After a scoreless first quarter and heavy possession from Saint Francis, Lock Haven scored the first goal of the match in the second quarter with six minutes remaining.

Heading into the third quarter at 1-0, the teams continued to go back and forth, exchanging but not capitalizing on chances. With three minutes remaining in the match, Lock Haven scored an insurance goal to extend its lead to 2-0. Time expired and the Bald Eagles posted their third shutout in a row.

Goalkeeper Claudia Marzec (Whitinsville, Mass./Moses Brown School) made six saves.

Forward Taylor Nesmith (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) led Saint Francis with four shots.

Defender Taylin Lehman (Hummelstown, Pa./Lower Dauphin) made two defensive saves for the Red Flash.

Up next for the Red Flash is its final match of the season, hosting Saint Louis (0-16, 0-7 A-10) on Sunday for Senior Day.
