Lynchburg, VA.- The Saint Francis University Swim team is finally on the road this weekend to head to the TYR '85 Invite at Liberty University, November 22
nd through the 24
th. This will be the first time competing since November 2
nd when they beat LIU 160-92. Liberty is a familiar competitor, seeing them once already this season when they came to Loretto and handed the Red Flash the only loss of their season thus far. This weekend they look to go head to head against a total nine other teams; Campbell, Duquesne, James Madison, Liberty, Navy, North Florida, Vanderbilt, and Marshall.
Race's to Watch- The Red Flash are seeded well in some pre-race polls prior to the meet this weekend. For the women's 200-yard IM, senior
Sabrina Bowman (Vandergrift, Pa./Saint Joseph's) is projected to finish 12
th overall, with fellow senior
Karilyn Quon (Tempe, Ariz./Corona del Sol) seeded 20
th in the same race. In the 200-yard medley race, Saint Francis is predicted to finish 14
th overall. In the 100-yard butterfly, senior
Sabrina Bowman (Vandergrift, Pa./Saint Joseph's) was predicted to seed 13
th with sophomore
Annabelle McCullough (Mercersburg, PA./James Buchanan High School) not far behind, seeded 15
th. Seeded 14
th in the 400-yard IM, senior
Karilyn Quon (Tempe, Ariz./Corona del Sol) is predicted to seed 14
th. The 100-yard breaststroke shows SFU swimmers predicted to place 17
th in senior Erin O'Neil, and 20

Kristen Toth (Silver Spring, Md./St. Vincent Pallotti), junior
Katelyn O'Connor (Torrance, Calif./South High) and senior
Sabrina Bowman (Vandergrift, Pa./Saint Joseph's). In the 800-yard freestyle, the Red Flash are seeded in 13
th and 15
th, respectfully. Also, the women's 1,650-yard freestlye where
Amelia Laudenbach (Kambah, Australia/Trinity Christian School) is predicted to seed 10
th overall and also the 200-yard backstroke where she is predicted to finish 19
th. Rounding out the races to watch is the 400-yard freestyle where Saint Francis is predicted to finish 17
th.
A lot of big races coming up this weekend to keep an eye on for the Red Flash.
Swimmer's to Watch- This weekend will be a testament to the strength of the Red Flash swimmers to come off a long break and show they've got what it takes to swim alongside some tough competition.
A name seen often in the projected higher seeds this weekend is senior
Sabrina Bowman (Vandergrift, Pa./Saint Joseph's). With it being early in the season, Bowman has made her presence known already, placing in first multiple times in many heats. She will look towards this weekend to continue her successful streak.
Fellow seniors
Karilyn Quon (Tempe, Ariz./Corona del Sol) and
Erin O'Neill (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn) are another set of force's to be reckoned with. Both are as well projected to have some pretty good placements this weekend in some of their specialty races.
Sophomores
Amelia Laudenbach (Kambah, Australia/Trinity Christian School),
Annabelle McCullough (Mercersburg, PA./James Buchanan High School) and
Julia Bradford (Edinboro, Pa./Villa Maria Academy) are also some Red Flash swimmers to keep an eye on come this weekend in Virginia. All have stepped up since their freshman years, overall swimming better and placing higher in their races.
A group of juniors in
Urska Medvesek (Maribor, Slovenia/Gymnasium Maribor),
Camille Nguyen (Mason, Ohio/Mason), and
Katelyn O'Connor (Torrance, Calif./South High) are as well one's to look out for in the pool, with some speedy times so far this season, it will allow them to swim right up against the other competitors.
Coach Hurley and the Saint Francis Red Flash swimmers will head to Lynchburg, VA. This upcoming weekend for an exciting continuation of their 2019-2020 season. Races on Friday start at 10 am with the finals at 6:00 pm. Saturday, races start at 10:00 am with finals starting at 6:00 pm.
