Gutierrez and Seigford win in singles as SFU drops 5-2 decision at Wright State

BOX SCORE Miamisburg, Ohio – Saint Francis women's tennis (1-8) had singles wins from two of its top three players, but fell to Wright State (3-2) in a 5-2 decision on Sunday at the South Regency Tennis Center.

In No. 1 singles, SFU's Laura Gutierrez (Bogota, Colombia/Cibercolegio UCN) picked up a win over Haily Morgan, 6-3, 6-2. The Red Flash's Lucia Seigford (Madrid, Spain/Mirasur) defeated Andreea Craciun at the No. 3 position, 6-3, 6-7, 6-3.

Wright State's Luisa Pelayo won at No. 2 singles over Raksha Bode (Reunion, Fla./Florida Virtual School), 6-3, 6-4. In No. 4 singles, the Raiders' Madison Riley knocked off Stephanie Miller (Washington, D.C./St. John's College High School), 6-3, 6-4. WSU's Jillian Milano took No. 5 over Romina Cutipa (Huancayo, Peru/San Juan Bosco), 6-2, 6-2. SFU lost at No. 6 by default.

In No. 1 doubles, Riley and Morgan defeated Seigford and Bode, 6-0. Wright State's Pelayo and Grace Whitney won at No. 2 over Gutierrez and Miller 6-2 to secure the doubles point.

Saint Francis will return to the courts when it faces Ball State on Friday, Feb. 15 in Pittsburgh, Pa.
