Seigford and Miller win in singles as SFU drops 5-2 decision to Bucknell

BOX SCORE Williamsport, Pa. – Saint Francis women's tennis (2-10, 1-0 NEC) fell to Bucknell (6-0) in a 5-2 decision on Friday at the Central PA Tennis Center in Williamsport, Pa.

Lucia Seigford (Madrid, Spain/Mirasur) and Stephanie Miller (Washington, D.C./St. John's College High School) picked up wins in singles to lead the charge for the Red Flash. In No. 2 singles, Seigford defeated Cayla Koch, 7-6, 1-6, 10-2. Miller knocked off Mishi Papich at No. 4 singles, 7-6, 6-1.

In No. 1 singles, Bucknell's Daniela Bellini captured a 6-3, 6-3 victory over Laura Gutierrez (Bogota, Colombia/Cibercolegio UCN). The Bisons' Paige Leavy won a tight 6-7, 7-5, 10-8 decision at No. 3 over Raksha Bode (Reunion, Fla./Florida Virtual School). SFU's Romina Cutipa (Huancayo, Peru/San Juan Bosco) fell at No. 5 to Sofia Ayuso, 6-1, 6-2. The Red Flash lost at No. 6 by default.

In No. 1 doubles, Leavy and Koch defeated Seigford and Bode, 6-1. Gutierrez and Miller secured a win for SFU at No. 2, knocking off Bellini and Ayuso, 7-6. The Red Flash fell at No. 3 by default to give the doubles point to the Bison.

Saint Francis has a quick turnaround as it travels to play at Lehigh on Saturday, Feb. 23 at 10 a.m.
