Red Flash fall to Lehigh 6-1 despite Bode's singles win

BOX SCORE Bethlehem, Pa. – Saint Francis women's tennis (2-11, 1-0 NEC) was unable to overcome Lehigh (2-3) as the Red Flash fell 6-1 to the Mountain Hawks on Saturday at the Lewis Indoor Tennis Center.

Raksha Bode (Reunion, Fla./Florida Virtual School) picked up the sole win for SFU in singles as she won at No. 3 over Grace Lin, 6-3, 6-1. In No. 1 singles, Lehigh's Paula Gonzalez defeated Laura Gutierrez (Bogota, Colombia/Cibercolegio UCN), 7-6, 7-5. The Mountain Hawks' Sibel Can knocked off Lucia Seigford (Madrid, Spain/Mirasur) at No. 2, 6-3, 6-1.

In No. 4 singles, SFU's Stephanie Miller (Washington, D.C./St. John's College High School) dropped a hard-fought 6-4, 2-6, 6-4 decision to Casey Zhong. Lehigh's Elizabeth Nowak won at No. 5 over Romina Cupita, 6-0, 6-2. The Red Flash fell at No. 6 by default.

In No. 1 doubles, Can and Gonzalez defeated Seigford and Bode, 6-2. Nowak and Zhong captured No. 2 over Gutierrez and Miller 7-5 to secure the doubles point.

Saint Francis has a couple weeks off before it returns to action at St. Bonaventure on Friday, March 15 at 10 a.m.
