Bode and Miller pick up singles wins as SFU falls at Northern Kentucky, 5-2

BOX SCORE CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. – Saint Francis women's tennis (1-7) fell to Northern Kentucky (2-3) in a 5-2 decision on Saturday at Five Seasons Sports Club. Seniors Raksha Bode (Reunion, Fla./Florida Virtual School) and Stephanie Miller (Washington, D.C./St. John's College High School) led the Red Flash with singles victories.

"Our seniors Steph and Raksha continue to lead the team winning their singles matches despite the team's loss," Head Coach Lisa Swope said.

In No. 3 singles, Bode defeated NKU's Taylor Culbertson, 6-4, 6-2. Miller knocked off the Norse's Katja Dijanezevic at No. 4 in an 8-4 pro set.

Northern Kentucky's Margita Sunjic won at No. 1 singles over Laura Gutierrez (Bogota, Colombia/Cibercolegio UCN), 6-3, 6-1. SFU's Lucia Seigford (Madrid, Spain/Mirasur) fell at No. 2 to Maria Koo, 6-0, 6-2. The Norse's Elizabeth Rozin defeated Romina Cutipa (Huancayo, Peru/San Juan Bosco), 6-2, 6-2 at the No. 5 singles position. SFU lost at No. 6 by default.

In No. 1 doubles, Culbertson and Koo took down Bode and Seigford, 6-4. Sunjic and Autumn Clark won at No. 2 doubles over Gutierrez and Miller 6-3 to secure the doubles point.

Saint Francis has a quick turnaround as the Red Flash return to the courts at Wright State on Sunday, Feb. 10 at 10 a.m.
