Women's Tennis uses complete team effort to defeat St. Francis Brooklyn, 6-1

BOX SCORE Ebensburg, Pa. – Saint Francis women's tennis (3-12, 2-0 NEC) used a complete team effort to take down St. Francis Brooklyn (0-7, 0-5 NEC) in a 6-1 decision on Sunday at the Ebensburg Tennis Center.

All five Red Flash players picked up wins in singles and both doubles teams recorded victories to secure the doubles point. SFU remains undefeated in conference play and on its home courts this season.

In No. 1 singles, Laura Gutierrez (Bogota, Colombia/Cibercolegio UCN) battled back after dropping the first set to record a 5-7, 6-2, 6-2 win over St. Francis Brooklyn's Jean-Na Koo. SFU's Lucia Seigford (Madrid, Spain/Mirasur) played a dominant match from start to finish in a 6-0, 6-2 decision at No. 2 over Sheila Cetina. In No. 3 singles, the Red Flash's Raksha Bode (Reunion, Fla./Florida Virtual School) knocked off Runsi Patro, 6-3, 6-1.

Stephanie Miller (Washington, D.C./St. John's College High School) secured a win at the No. 4 position over the Terriers' Martina Radinovic, 6-2, 6-1. In No. 5 singles, SFU's Romina Cutipa (Huancayo, Peru/San Juan Bosco) completed the match with an 8-3 pro set victory over Sandra Siles Polo. The Terriers took No. 6 singles by default.

In doubles action, Saint Francis won at No. 1 with Bode and Seigford's 6-2 triumph over Patro and Ana Orozco. In No. 2 doubles, Miller and Cutipa knocked off Na-Koo and Siles Polo 6-3 to secure the doubles point for the Red Flash.

SFU will return to action hosting Fairleigh Dickinson for Senior Day on Saturday, March 30. First serve at the Ebensburg Tennis Center is set for 1:30 p.m.
