LORETTO, Pa.- The Saint Francis water polo team travels to Washington D.C. for the George Washington Mini for three games against CWPA competition in No. 14 Harvard, No. 24 Bucknell, and George Washington University.
Scouting Harvard
The Crimson, currently ranked #14, are 15-4 on the season against an assorted mix of Eastern and Californian teams. Harvard spent the past two weekends in California playing against the cream of the state. Offensively, Harvard is led by Kristen Hong and Sofia Carrera-Justiz while senior goalkeeper Sam Acker keeps the nets clean. Head coach Ted Minnis enters his ninth season at the helm of the Crimson. Saint Francis is 0-4 all-time against Harvard.
Scouting Bucknell
The Bison enter the contest ranked #24 in the CWPA Poll and 17-8 on the season which has already beaten their mark of 16 wins in 2018. The 17 wins include two ranked wins over Marist and San Jose State. Ally Furano, Emily Konishi, and Kali Hyman lead a potent tri-attack and have totaled over a combined 130 goals. A key to Bucknell's success has been outscoring opponents in the first period. John McBride enters his seventh year as the head of the Bison herd. SFU is 0-5 all-time against Bucknell.
Scouting George Washington
George Washington, much like their namesake in warfare, have lost more games than won (4-6), but the Colonials, like G-Dubs, have been competitive in their matches. Sophomore Alana Ponce has built off her impressive freshman season and continues to punish the nets. Head general Barry King looks to claim the title of Father of George Washington Water Polo after winning 14 games in 2018. The Red Flash are 1-6 against George Washington.
