About The Highlanders
NJIT comes into the weekend with a 9-13 record and 4-8 conference mark. The Highlanders recently picked up two wins against Harvard and Sacred Heart last weekend in complete set fashion. With the two sweeps, NJIT holds a two-match winning streak and looks to close out the season on a high note. Earlier this season, the Red Flash swept NJIT in Loretto, Pa. The Red Flash executed on all cylinders to hold the advantage in every statistical category.
Michael Fisher (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley (Pepperdine)) led all hitters with 19 kills while
Ryan Alu (Pipersville, PA/Central Bucks West ) stabilized the defense with 11 digs. Â
Chasing the Title
The Red Flash clinched its 10th EIVA playoff berth under head coach
Mike Rumbaugh with two games left to go this season. The last time the Red Flash reached the playoffs was back in 2017, which resulted in a 3-0 sweep to Penn State in the EIVA Championship game. The seeding for the tournament has not been set in stone, but as it stands, the Red Flash is tied in second with in-state rival Penn State.
Â
.300 Hitting Percentage
SFU's measure for success , like baseball, has been its ability to reach a .300 hitting percentage. The Red Flash are 6-0 when hitting .300 or more points and just 9-11 when held under .300. SFU hit its last .300 hitting percentage in the 3-0 win over George Mason last Friday.
Patrick Bryan (Emmaus, Pa./Emmaus) finished the match with a .387 hitting percentage.
