Women's Tennis announces signing of local product Lucas

Loretto, Pa. – Saint Francis women's tennis is proud to announce the signing of local product Kristen Lucas.

The Hollidaysburg, Pa. native comes to Loretto by way of the Grier School. Lucas has been a four-year starter for the Lady Foxes, including the last two seasons under coach Kelly Forest. She was undefeated in singles action over her junior and senior seasons at Grier and a two-time member of the Altoona Mirror all-star first team.

The tennis standout is also a high performer in the classroom as Lucas was an honor roll student and member of the Grier National Honor Society, the National French Honor Society and Grier Ambassadors, which helps welcome new students to campus. She intends to major in biology pre-medicine with a minor in business analytics when she arrives in Loretto. Lucas plans to go on to medical school after she completes her undergraduate program.

Lucas played at the United States Tennis Association level under the direction of local tennis pros Matt Stopp and Jamie Taylor. She was ranked eighth at the Middle States U-16 for the USTA.

Head Coach Lisa Swope on Lucas: "I couldn't be happier that Kristen chose SFU tennis as her family for the next four years. It's extra special for me because she's from this area and wants to stay here for her collegiate career. SFU's courts have been her home courts for years and now she'll be playing on them as a member of the Red Flash in front of hometown fans. She is a strong, powerful and consistent player with doubles experience, who will be a great asset to our team."
