Norton Selected by NFCA for Top Performance Honors

LORETTO, Pa.- The accolades keep pouring in for Hayley Norton (Spring Grove, Pa./Spring Grove). The senior slugger, after winning the Wallace Award for SFU's senior female student-athlete and NEC Player of the Week, picked up top performance honors from the NFCA for her play against Kent State, Bucknell, and LIU Brooklyn.

Norton electrified her feared power stroke in the games against Kent State, Bucknell, and LIU Brooklyn by smashing four home runs in six games. The senior slugger hit .471, clubbed eight hits, added a double, and drove in nine RBI while accumulating a slugging percentage of 1.235. Norton saved her best doubleheader for NEC leader LIU Brooklyn by smashing three home runs to earn a crucial split in the race for the conference tournament. The four bombs gives Norton 15 home runs on the season which ties a career high for the left fielder and is fourth best in the single-season home run list. Her nine RBI moves her up to 58 on the year good for eighth in the nation and a career high for Norton. Additionally, the 58 RBI are now third best in program history for a single-season.

Norton and Red Flash softball return to action this Saturday for a pivotal doubleheader against Fairleigh Dickinson. The two games will play a heavy role in determining seeding for the conference tournament.
