Women's Tennis closes regular season with road matches against Sacred Heart and Quinnipiac

Loretto, Pa. – The Saint Francis women's tennis team (3-14, 2-1 NEC) closes the regular season this weekend with road matches against Sacred Heart (5-13, 0-1 NEC) on Saturday, April 6 and at Quinnipiac (5-12, 2-0 MAAC) on Sunday, April 7.

Saturday's matchup with the Pioneers will take place at Yale with first serve scheduled for 6 p.m. It will be the final NEC match of the season for the Red Flash. Sunday's contest with the Bobcats will begin at 1 p.m. at the Quinnipiac Tennis Facility.

SFU is coming off two marathon matches last weekend in a 5-2 defeat to Fairleigh Dickinson and a heartbreaking 5-4 loss at Carnegie Mellon. The Red Flash had singles wins from seniors Raksha Bode (Reunion, Fla./Florida Virtual School) and Stephanie Miller (Washington, D.C./St. John's College High School) on Senior Day against the Knights, while Bode, Miller and junior Lucia Seigford (Madrid, Spain/Mirasur) recorded singles victories against the Tartans. The No. 2 doubles team of Miller and junior Laura Gutierrez (Bogota, Colombia/Cibercolegio UCN) won both of their matches this past weekend.

Bode has been on a roll lately, winning five-straight matches at No. 3 singles, while Miller has won four in a row at the No. 4 position. Seigford has been victorious in three of her last four matches at No. 2 singles.

Sacred Heart is fresh off a 6-1 defeat against Fairleigh Dickinson on Thursday. The Knights are the only common opponent between the Pioneers and the Red Flash this season. Quinnipiac is coming off a 4-1 win over Binghamton this past Sunday and has no common opponents with SFU.

Saint Francis looks to make its final push in the regular season this weekend before competing in the Northeast Conference Championships on April 18-20 at the Mercer County Tennis Center in West Windsor, N.J.
