Miller wins sixth-straight singles match as SFU falls at Quinnipiac, 6-1

BOX SCORE Hamden, Conn. – Saint Francis senior captain Stephanie Miller (Washington, D.C./St. John's College High School) picked up her sixth-straight singles win as SFU (3-16, 2-2 NEC) fell to Quinnipiac (7-12, 3-0 MAAC) 6-1 to close the regular season on Sunday at the Outdoor Tennis Complex.

Miller bounced back after dropping the first set to defeat Proyfon Lohaphaisan, 2-6, 7-6 (3), 10-4. The Red Flash's No. 2 doubles team of Miller and Laura Gutierrez (Bogota, Colombia/Cibercolegio UCN) knocked off the Bobcats' Kamilla Nella and Payton Bradley, 6-4.

In No. 1 singles, Quinnipiac's Jennifer Lu took a back-and-forth 4-6, 6-1, 10-7 decision over Gutierrez. Nella won over SFU's Lucia Seigford (Madrid, Spain/Mirasur) at the No. 2 position, 6-3, 6-2. Bradley recorded a victory at No. 4 after the Red Flash's Raksha Bode (Reunion, Fla./Florida Virtual School) retired in the first set.

In No. 5 singles, the Bobcats' Stephanie Yanosov topped Romina Cutipa (Huancayo, Peru/San Juan Bosco), 6-2, 6-1. Quinnipiac won at No. 6 by default. In No. 1 doubles, Lohaphaisan and Vasile defeated Seigford and Bode, 6-4. The Bobcats secured the doubles point by winning at No. 3 by default.

Saint Francis will compete in the Northeast Conference Championships on April 18-20 at the Mercer County Tennis Center in West Windsor, N.J.
