Swimming with a quick trip to Duquesne

Pittsburgh, PA - The Saint Francis University Swimming team is back in action after a successful training trip to St. Petersburg College in St. Petersburg, FL at the beginning of this month. Here, the Red Flash took an overall 1st place finish out of nine other teams. This weekend they look towards another road trip to Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA Saturday afternoon. The Dukes are the 2018 and 2019 Atlantic 10 Swimming and Diving Champions and look to put up a fight against the Red Flash.

Meet Overview- This is the first matchup against the Red Flash and the Dukes since last January where SFU fell 75-195. The Red Flash have only ever beaten the Dukes twice, in the 2010-2011 and 2012-2013 seasons and have accumulated 11 losses since 2007-2008. With a tough group of swimmers heading to Pitt, the Red Flash are bringing along some competitive competition looking to come out on top this Saturday.

Swimmer's to watch- The Red Flash are bringing along some strong swimmer's this weekend that look to continue the high note they set in Florida a few weeks ago.

Sophomores Annabelle McCullough (Mercersburg, PA./James Buchanan High School), Rebecca Pendleton (Maple Glen, PA/Upper Dublin High Schhol), and Julia Bradford (Edinboro, Pa./Villa Maria Academy) have shown out this season with many top place finishes and is certainly a group of top SFU swimmers to keep an eye on this upcoming weekend. All of these swimmers of which are coming off some top place finishes after the last meet.

Seniors Karilyn Quon (Tempe, Ariz./Corona del Sol), Erin O'Neill (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn), and Kristen Toth (Silver Spring, Md./St. Vincent Pallotti) are all as well making the most out of their last season as Red Flash with notable performances thus far. All of which tallied some first places finishes at the last meet in Florida. Another senior standout, Sabrina Bowman (Vandergrift, Pa./Saint Joseph's) will be making the trip this weekend and will be sure to continue her successful senior season stride. Quon and Bowman sit on top of some SFU All-time leader lists.

Junior Urska Medvesek (Maribor, Slovenia/Gymnasium Maribor) and sophomore Amelia Laudenbach (Kambah, Australia/Trinity Christian School) are another set of SFU swimmers to keep an eye on this weekend after some impressive first place finishes in St. Petersburg.

All the action starts Saturday, January 18th at 1 p.m. in Pittsburgh PA. A full recap with results will follow.
