Men's tennis opens 2020 campaign at Morgan State

Loretto, Pa. – Saint Francis men's tennis begins competition in the spring season on Sunday at Morgan State. It's the first time the Red Flash have competed in the spring since 2018 after the program was reinstated in June 2019 following a one-year hiatus.

With only one returning player from the previous team, much remains unknown about the 2020 Red Flash. Junior Sebastian Pinos (Quito, Ecuador/Compuinformatica) returns after a solid freshman campaign in 2017-18 where he started for the team in singles and doubles.

Freshman Andrew Teixeira (Sao Paulo, Brazil/ETEC Getúlio Vargas) had a strong fall season for SFU, winning two of three singles matches at the Bucknell Invitational and teaming up with Pinos to capture the doubles B flight championship.

Junior transfer Samuel Ghigiarelli (Aruja, Brazil/Jacksonville College) comes to Saint Francis after graduating from Jacksonville College, a juco in Texas. Ghigiarelli is a native of Aruja, Brazil. Sophomore Daniel Vinces (Lima, Peru/Universidad de Piura) joins the Red Flash from Lima, Peru where he attended Universidad de Piura. He played tennis for jockey club where his team was a national champion.

Freshman Jordi Garcia (Barcelona, Spain/IES Vallès) arrives in Loretto from Barcelona, Spain where he attended high school at IES Vallès. He played tennis for Cercle Sabadellès 1856 and was a three-time champion of the League of Catalonia.

Freshman Derek Roehner (Weston, FL/Cypress Bay) comes to Saint Francis from Weston, Florida where he attended Cypress Bay High School. He played tennis at Midtown High Performance. Freshman Christian Banti (Pisa, Italy/IISS Antonio Pesenti) joins the Red Flash after graduating high school from IISS Antonio Pesenti in Pisa, Italy.
