Men's tennis falls to Mercyhurst

Erie, Pa. – Saint Francis men's tennis fell to Mercyhurst 7-0 on Saturday at the Westwood Racquet Club.

In No. 1 singles, SFU's Sebastian Pinos (Quito, Ecuador/Compuinformatica) fell to Cormac McCooey, 7-6, 6-2. The Lakers' Unai Gonzalez defeated Andrew Teixeira (Sao Paulo, Brazil/ETEC Getúlio Vargas) at No. 2, 6-2, 7-5. The Red Flash's Daniel Vinces (Lima, Peru/Universidad de Piura) fell to Hristo Plasheski at No. 3, 6-4, 6-0.

In No. 4 singles, Mercyhurst's Arseniy Sklyarov defeated Jordi Garcia (Barcelona, Spain/IES Vallès), 6-2, 3-6, 10-7. SFU's Christian Banti (Pisa, Italy/IISS Antonio Pesenti) fell to Sebastian Pardo at No. 5, 5-7, 6-3, 10-7. The Lakers' Pranav Sadhvani knocked off Samuel Ghigiarelli (Aruja, Brazil/Jacksonville College) at No. 6, 6-4, 6-4.

In No. 1 doubles, Mercyhurst's McCooey and Plasheski won over Pinos and Vinces, 7-6 (4). Banti and Teixeira fell to Skylarov and Gonzalez at No. 2, 7-6 (5). Sadhvani and Pardo defeated Garcia and Ghigiarelli at No. 3, 6-0.

Saint Francis returns to action at Penn State on Sunday, Feb. 16 at 3 p.m. Following the match with the Nittany Lions, SFU will then take on Juniata on Sunday at the Penn State Tennis Center.
