LORETTO, Pa. - Saint Francis University football running back
Marques DeShields (Clementon, N.J.) earned his second NEC Prime Performers honor of the season, the conference announced Monday.
DeShields, a redshirt junior, had 14 rushes for 140 yards and one touchdown in Saturday's game against Bryant. He had a 98-yard touchdown in the third quarter after Bryant punter Ethan Gettman booted a school-record 82-yard punt.
The Lackawanna College product's 98-yard rush was the longest run in Saint Francis football history. At the time of his run, it was the longest run in the FCS this season before Stony Brook's Ty Son Lawton scored on a 99-yard run later in the day.
With his 144-yard outburst, DeShields moved to second in the NEC with 449 rushing yards this season and is also third in the conference with three rushing touchdowns.
The Red Flash have a bye week before returning to the field at Duquesne on Saturday, Oct. 30 at 3 p.m.
