YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Saint Francis men's tennis team (1-7) dropped a match to Youngstown State (4-4) on Friday by a 7-0 margin despite some close sets.

SINGLES
Sebastian Pinos kept his No. 1 singles match close, but fell to YSU's Vardakis 1-6 and 6-7. At No. 6 singles,
Samuel Ghigiarelli pushed his second set against Ibanez to extra but lost 3-6 and 6-7.
Andrew Teixeira came up short at No. 2 singles against Mandocescu, losing 3-6, 0-6. At No 3 singles,
Daniel Vinces lost to YSU's Gran 0-6, 1-6.
Christian Banti fell to Garretto at No. 4 singles, 3-6, 1-6. At No. 5 singles,
Jordi Garcia lost 1-6 in straight sets against Moreno.
DOUBLES
Garcia and Ghigiarelli needed extra games to decide their No. 3 doubles match against Ibanez and Mandocescu, but ultimately lost 6-7. The No. 1 doubles match was also close but Vardakis and Gran earned the 6-4 victory over Banti and Pinos. At No. 2 doubles, Teixeira and Vinces lost to Moreno and Garreto by a 2-6 margin.

UP NEXT
The Red Flash women compete tomorrow against Western Illinois at 10 a.m. and Youngstown State at 4 p.m. at the YSU Indoor Tennis Center. The Saint Francis men are back in action next weekend with short trips to Mercyhurst (Friday, March 5) and Bucknell (Saturday, March 6).
