THE WORD ON LONG ISLAND UNIVERSITY
Both teams come into the contest with an overall record of 0-3 for the 2022 season. The Red Flash and Sharks have both lost all three matches in straight sets this season.
Long Island and Saint Francis have a long rivalry in other sports and will continue that rivalry in men's volleyball as both programs will be in the NEC for the 2023 season.
LAST TIME OUT
Saturday's game marks the first time the Red Flash have played at home since an exhibition match against Juniata College on Jan. 7 in which the squad won in straight sets.
In the team's last game against last year's NCAA National Semifinalist in Lewis University, Ryan Parker recorded a new career single game high of 24 assists. In addition, the sophomore broke his single game high in digs to advance his number to six digs in a single match. Junior Blake Liprando and freshman Nathan Zini led the Red Flash in kills with 14 and 11, respectively, in the team's latest game against the Flyers.
It has been a week since the Red Flash have seen action due to their scheduled contest against Daemen College being cancelled from COVID-19 protocols with Daemen College.
The Red Flash have played some big-time opponents so far this season in Ohio State University, Loyola University Chicago and Lewis University.
LAST TIME WE MET
Since this is the first year of Long Island University men's volleyball, this matchup marks the first meeting between the two programs.
