Murphy Replaces Triple Jump Record, Red Flash Win Three Events at VMI Relays

» Saint Francis University competed at the VMI Winter Relays hosted by the Virginia Military Institute Friday and Saturday.
» Junior Madeline Murphy (Cresson, Pa.) broke the Saint Francis school record in the triple jump on Jan. 28.
» Murphy, Mylan Crews (West Alexandria, Ohio), Jalurah Moore (Blakeslee, Pa.) picked up wins in their respective events.
» Six Red Flashes earned spots on the Saint Francis all-time performance list.

FLASH WOMEN'S TRACK & FIELD NUGGETS
The women's showing was highlighted by Murphy's record-breaking triple jump. Murphy cleared 11.79m, breaking her own mark of 11.63m. Murphy originally broke the triple jump record in 2020 at the NEC Championship.
 
Caroline Ratchford (Ebensburg, Pa.) cleared 1.60m in the preliminary heat of the high jump. Ratchford is now ranked fourth all-time in the event.
 
In the 60m hurdles, Gabrielle Stanavich (Amsterdam, N.Y.) crossed the finish line with a time of 9.33. Stanavich's performance ranks sixth all-time and fourth at the meet.
 
In the 60m finals, the Red Flash finished first, second and fourth. Crews clocked a time of 7.61. Moore posted a 7.74 and Aaliyah Vandergrift (Lindenwold, N.J.) rounded out the 60m with a time of 7.86.
 
Moore finished the 200m with a time of 25.23, beating her personal best of 25.31 in the event and improving her number five spot on the all-time list.

FLASH MEN'S TRACK & FIELD NUGGETS
Two Red Flashes earned spots on the Saint Francis all-time list in the 60m. Bryce Baker (Harrisburg, Pa.) clocked a time of 6.95 in the preliminary heat. Julian Saunders (Boyertown, Pa.) finished with a time of 7.00. Baker's performance earned him the number three spot and Saunders' performance earned him the number nine spot.
 
Caleb Nelson (Bridgeville, Pa.) cleared 14.11m in the preliminary heat of the triple jump. Nelson's jump was good for the seventh spot on the all-time list.
 
Ardonntrell Williams (Voorhees, N.J.) took silver in the 60m hurdles, clocking a time of 8.21.

UP NEXT
The track & field team will be heading to Akron, Ohio to compete at the Akron Invitational Feb. 4 – 5.
