LORETTO, PA. – With the 39
th season in program history approaching, head coach
Mike Rumbaugh and the Saint Francis University men's volleyball program announce the 2023 schedule.
"It will be exciting to start play in the Northeast Conference", said head coach
Mike Rumbaugh. "We start off with a couple exciting trips to Stanford and Hawaii. I still get to travel to three EIVA foes and then travel to some new places within the NEC. It should be a very entertaining season."
The 2023 season will mark the beginning of men's volleyball as a Northeast Conference (NEC) sport. The NEC will welcome men's volleyball members in Saint Francis, Fairleigh Dickinson, St. Francis Brooklyn, LIU, Sacred Heart, Merrimack, D'Youville and Daemen.
The 26-match regular season will run from January to April and feature nine home games and 14 NEC competitions.
The Red Flash will open the 2023 season on the road by starting things off at Stanford twice on Jan. 6-7. Followed by a trip to Hawaii for back-to-back matches on Jan. 18-20. Following its time on the Pacific Coast, the Red Flash will take on McKendree and North Greenville at Harvard on Jan. 27-28. Before heading home, the team will take on NJIT in New Jersey on Feb. 3.
Saint Francis men's volleyball will open up its home slate on Feb. 4 by taking on Aldison Broaddus and continue at home for its conference opener against Fairleigh Dickinson on Feb. 10.
The team will jump out of conference action to take on former EIVA conference foe, Penn State at home on Feb. 11 and in State College, Pa. on March 18.
The 2023 schedule will also feature a non-conference trip to Charlotte, N.C. where the Red Flash will take on Queens on Mar. 16 and King at Queens on Mar. 17.
The Northeast Conference tournament will be held on April 20 and feature the six highest seeds and be hosted by the No. 1 seed.
