• The Red Flash has won eight of the last meetings in the matchup to grab a 26-22 advantage in the series.
• Saint Francis is 17-8 at DeGol Arena against the Blue Devils and has won five of the last six in Loretto.

LAST TIME WE MET
Maxwell Land and Josh Cohen combined for 49 points to power Saint Francis past CCSU 79-63 on February 24, 2022. Land matched his then career high of 20 points, while Cohen added 19 points and eight rebounds.
Mark Flagg (14 points, 12 rebounds) and Brad McCabe (13 points) also found double figures for the Red Flash.
• Nigel Scantlebury fueled the Blue Devils with 30 points, while Tre Mitchell added 15 points in the loss.

THE WORD ON CCSU
•  The Blue Devils went 2-12 in non-conference play and are coming off an 83-66 loss to Saint Joseph's on December 21.
• Jay Rogers paced CCSU with 18 points, and Nigel Scantlebury tallied seven points and nine assists.
• Kellan Amos leads the Blue Devils with 13.6 points, while Andre Snoody powers the team with 5.9 rebounds per game. Scantlebury is also averaging double figures with 10.5 points per game.

LAST TIME OUT
• Saint Francis wrapped up non-conference play with a 77-66 loss against longtime NEC foe Robert Morris on December 21.
• Redshirt junior Josh Cohen tallied 28 points and a career-best 14 rebounds against the Colonials. It was his sixth 20-point game this season, but just the second time in his career that he has registered a double-double when he has scored 20 points.
• Freshman Landon Moore added 16 points for his eighth double-figure point performance this season.

AN SFU WIN WOULD
• Be the third-straight win against CCSU
• End a three-game losing streak and avoid its first four-game losing streak
• End a three-game losing streak in the inaugural first NEC game of the season, including the last two in Loretto.
• Be the third-straight win against CCSU
• Mark the fifth time the Red Flash has started the NEC slate with a win under head coach Rob Krimmel
• Be the team's second win in the month of December

TRENDING UP
• Redshirt junior Josh Cohen averaged  32.7 points and 10.7 rebounds per game during the Red Flash's three game road trip.
• During the three-games that spanned from Hawai'i, Miami and Robert Morris, Cohen posted 40 points, 30 points and 28 points. The redshirt junior also had nine rebounds on both beach coasts before racking up a career-best 14 boards in Moon Township.
• Cohen averaged 22.5 points and 8.3 rebounds per game in 13 non-conference games to post the best points per game and total points in program history dating back to at least the 1997-98 season.
• Isaiah Blackmon is the only other player to post over 200 points in a non-conference slate with 204 points in 2019-20 in 12 games. Earl Brown would be the next player on the list with 181 points in 2014-15. Darshan Luckey had the best scoring average in that span in non-conference play with a 17.5 points per game average in 10 games in 2002-03 and also averaged 17.2 points per game in non-conference in 2004-05. Blackmon averaged 17.0 points per game in non-conference in 2019-20. Those are the three scoring averages closest to Cohen since 1997-98.
• Junior Ronell Giles, Jr. reached double figures for the first time since posting 18 points against Wagner on December 29, 2021. Since that game, Giles was 4-for-40 from the field with 14 points in nine games. He also missed 20 games due to injuries since January 8, 2022. He now has 23 career double-figure performances in his career.
• Freshman Landon Moore averaged 20.5 points per game in his last two games. The game against Robert Morris was the first time he was held without an assist in his career. He has 10 games with at least two assists and two games with a single helper.
• Last season, after posting double figures five times in his first 11 games of non-conference play, junior Maxwell Land posted double figures in 13 of the 18 NEC games and avearged 13.1 points per game in league games. That mark was only second to Cohen's 14.2 points per game in the circuit on the team.

FRANKIES TIDBITS IN A FLASH
• Saint Francis heads into its 42nd Northeast Conference opener 19-22 in the first game of the year.
• It will be the 21st time the Red Flash will open the league slate at DeGol Arena. The squad is 14-6 in those contests.
• Saint Francis had opened the season a team-high six times against Robert Morris when they were a part of the league, while CCSU and Wagner are the second-most played teams in NEC openers with five games apiece.
•  The Loretto program is 3-1 against the New Britain program in the first league game of the year, including 2-0 at DeGol Arena.
• The last time the two teams played the first NEC game of the year was also on December 29, but in Connecticut in 2017-18.
• Saint Francis has posted at least 10 wins in a season in three of four previous times the Red Flash opened the season against the Blue Devils, including a 12-6 league mark after falling to CCSU in 2017-18 league opener.
• The Loretto program also went 10-6 in 1997-98 and 10-8 in 2004-05 after defeating the Blue Devils in the inaugural game of the year.
• Head coach Rob Krimmel's NEC first game at the helm in 2012-13 was also against the New Britain program, a 67-60 win on January 3, 2013.
• The Red Flash is 4-6 in the first NEC game of the season under Krimmel, including 4-2 at DeGol Arena.
• Saint Francis has lost the last three league openers, including the last two at home.
• Despite the losing mark in first circuit match, the squad has posted four 10-win seasons in the NEC and two-non-losing seasons  under the 11th-yearhead coach. The team has lost the first NEC game in three of the four winning seasons in that stretch.
• With the departures of Bryant and Mount St. Mary's and the addition of Stonehill, it will be the first 16-game league schedule since 1997-98. The league also had a 16-game slate in eight of the first 10 seasons that started in 1981-82. In 1997-98 after Rider left the circuit the schedule was 16 games.
• The squad posted three winning league records and finished over .500 four times in those nine years, including winning the only NEC title in 1990-91 with a 24-8 overall record and 13-3 in league play.
• Junior Maxwell Land is averaging 15.5 points per game in 10 games against a team from the state of Connecticut. He has found double figures in eight of the 10 contests against the state. The Red Flash has played CCSU and Sacred Heart four times each and Hartford twice in his three years in Loretto.
• The Cincinnati kid, who has five career 20-point outputs, has also posted four-straight 20-point performances against the Nutmeg state and is averaging 21.5 points per game in that stretch.
• He registered a pair of 20-point games against Sacred Heart, and one against both CCSU and Hartford. He notched a career-high 26 points against Hartford on November 12.
• Saint Francis returns to action at home against Stonehill on December 31 for the first of four Saturday contests that will start at 4 p.m. in Loretto the rest of the season.
• The squad will be on the road for four of the six games in the month of January, but then will have four home and four away games in the month of February.
• The Loretto program will open and close the conference schedule at home for the seventh time in program history and the first time since the 2017-18 campaign.
