Men’s and Women’s Tennis Visits Niagara and St. Bonaventure

LORETTO, Pa. – Saint Francis University men's and women's tennis heads back on the road for a trip to Niagara on Saturday and St. Bonaventure on Sunday.

Women's Last Time Out
Saint Francis defeated Colgate 6-1 and moved to 3-2 on the season and 2-0 at home. Dominique Yeo, Bente Vandeputte and Anoek Pruijmboom led the way with wins in both singles and doubles. The duo of Vandeputte and Pruijmboom had a decisive victory in No. 2 doubles to earn the point. Valeria Vinces and Romina Cutipa each won their singles matches to round out Saint Francis' earned points on the day. Vinces' win clinched the Red Flash victory in No. 5 singles.
 
Scouting Niagara
The Purple Eagles enter Saturday's matchup with an 0-2 record in the spring season. They suffered a 5-2 loss against IUP to start the season and a 7-0 loss to Bucknell. Erika Gonzalez has the only on-court win for Niagara with a 7-6, 7-6 No. 4 singles win over IUP's Katy Graydon. Niagara's only other win came in a No. 6 singles default win at IUP. Thy will host Syracuse on Sunday after a matchup with the Red Flash.
 
All-Time vs. Niagara
The Red Flash hold a 2-1 all-time advantage over the Purple Eagles. Saint Francis won the inaugural matchup between the programs 5-2 in 2013 and the last matchup 6-1 in 2017. Niagara earned their only victory over Saint Francis 6-1 in 2016.
 
Scouting St. Bonaventure
The Bonnies enter Saturday's contest with an 0-6 record prior to a matchup at Buffalo on Friday at 7 p.m. St. Bonaventure has been shut out in four of their six matches this season. Four Bonnies, Amelia Haley, Anastasia Gubanova, Alexandra Jansson and Floor Lissone each have one singles win this season.  
 
All-Time vs. St. Bonaventure
The Bonnies hold a 6-5 advantage over the Red Flash since the program's first matchup in 2009. St. Bonaventure opened the series with three straight wins before Saint Francis won five-of-six meetings between 2013-18. The Bonnies enter Saturday's contest with two straight wins, most recently 4-3 in 2021.

Men's Last Time Out
Saint Francis suffered a 6-1 loss at home to Colgate and fell to 1-4 on the season. Marc Fuste came away with a No. 3 singles win to earn his third victory of the season. Two other singles matches, for Fabio Varella and Andrew Teixeira, were decided in the third set of their respective matches. Colgate swept the day's doubles points, as all-three were decided by at least a 7-5 margin.
 
Scouting Niagara
The Purple Eagles start their spring season with the matchup against the Red Flash on Saturday. They went 3-0 in the fall season with wins over Walsh, Le Moyne and Daemen. Trevor Masi went 3-0 in his fall season singles matches during the fall season head-to-head matchups. He served as the team's No. 2 singles, while Manuel Alonso served as the team's No. 1.
 
All-Time vs. Niagara
The Red Flash and Purple Eagles are in an even 2-2 split in the series' four-game history. Saint Francis has won the past two meetings with 7-0 shutouts in 2016 and 2017. St. Bonaventure took the first two matchups of the series with a 6-1 win in 2013 and 5-2 win in 2009.
 
Scouting St. Bonaventure
The Bonnies enter Sunday's contest with an 0-3 record in the spring season after they suffered losses to Loyola (Md.), Navy and Cornell. Stijn Paardekooper leads the Bonnies with two No. 1 singles victories over Loyola and Navy. He accounts for two of St. Bonaventure's three wins this season, the other from No. 2 singles Marco Rivolo.
 
All-Time vs. St. Bonaventure
The Red Flash hold a 5-4 all-time advantage over the Bonnies. St. Bonaventure snapped a five-game Saint Francis winning streak with their 6-1 win in 2021. During the five-game run by Saint Francis, they won three of the matches by a narrow 4-3 margin. The Bonnies started the all-time matchup with three straight wins, two of them 7-0.
