Men's Volleyball Set For Three Game Road Trip

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
Saint Francis University men's volleyball will hit the road this weekend for three matches. First, for two conference matches in NJIT Friday, Feb. 25 at 6:00 p.m. and St. Francis Brooklyn on Saturday, Feb.26 at 7:00 p.m. Followed by a non-conference matchup at Long Island University on Sunday, Feb. 27 at 2:00 p.m.
 
Friday's match can be followed on America East and Live Stats. Saturday's match against the Terriers can be followed live on NEC Front Row and with Live Stats. While the game against the Sharks of Long Island University on Sunday can also be followed on NEC Front Row and on Live Stats.
 
THE WORD ON THE HIGHLANDERS
NJIT most recently took an upset at Harvard University in four sets to lose its first conference game to the Crimson. Julian Meissner led the Highlanders with 18 kills, seven digs, and one serving ace.
 
NJIT currently sits at 7-3 overall and 3-1 in the EIVA to put the squad at third in the conference just under the Red Flash.
 
Carson Williams for the Highlanders stands at third place in the EIVA at 1.03 blocks per set. While Roque Nideo ranks second in the conference for assists per set with 9.38.
 
THE WORD ON THE TERRIERS
St. Francis Brooklyn College stands at fourth in the EIVA under the Highlanders to be 3-3 in conference and 7-4 overall.
 
Nicole Iannelli places first in the conference with 94 digs on the season. While David Vorfi ranks first in the conference at 0.61 service aces per set.
 
Most recently, the Terriers defeated Long Island University in Brooklyn over five sets. Andrea Lancianese led both teams with 21 kills in the match. While Nicole Iannelli posted 15 digs for the St. Francis Brooklyn squad.
 
THE WORD ON THE SHARKS
Long Island University are in its first season in program history. The squad currently stands at 4-11 overall.
 
Most recently, the Sharks took a loss to the Terriers of St. Francis Brooklyn, 3-2. Luke Chandler led Long Island with 19 kills on the day. Hasan Hadzic put up six serving aces for the Sharks. While Danny Seliger collected nine digs for the Long Island squad.
 
LAST TIME OUT
Most recently, the Red Flash took its first conference loss at Penn State University in straight sets. Prior to the loss to the Nittany Lions, Saint Francis defeated Queens University of Charlotte in DeGol Arena in a straight set sweep. Blake Liprando was one dig shy of recording a double-double in the match to the Royals to put up 13 kills and nine digs in the game. Ryan Parker additionally, put up 33 assists and four serving aces for the Red Flash.
 
Thomas Leahey currently stands at eighth place nationally in hitting percentage with a .455 and second in the EIVA.
 
LAST TIME WE MET
The Red Flash and Highlanders met four times last season in which the Highlanders won all four matches. Most recently, NJIT defeated Saint Francis in Loretto in straight sets. The Red Flash are 22-33 against the Highlanders with the squads last win over NJIT coming in 2019 in a straight set victory.
 
The Red Flash are 1-0 against the Terriers with the two programs only meeting being in the 2020 season. Saint Francis won that match in straight sets.
 
The Red Flash and Sharks have only met once with the first meeting being earlier this season in Loretto. Saint Francis men's volleyball also won that game in straight sets.
 
UP NEXT
Following this weekend's matches, the Red Flash will return to Loretto for a conference match against Charleston on Saturday, March 5 at 4:00 p.m.
