Men’s and Women’s Tennis Take Trips to Bucknell and Lehigh

LORETTO, Pa. – Saint Francis University men's and women's tennis take a road trip to Bucknell on Saturday, Feb. 26 and Lehigh on Sunday, Feb. 27.

Men's Last Time Out
Saint Francis fell to Youngstown State on Feb. 20, 5-2. Fabio Varella earned his third singles match of the season with a 6-4, 6-1 win in No. 3 singles. Marc Fuste earned the other Red Flash point with his sixth win of the season 6-4, 6-1 in No. 4 singles. The duo of Fuste and Varella earned a No. 2 doubles victory 6-3, though the Red Flash lost the point.
 
Scouting Bucknell
Bucknell enters Saturday's match with a 2-6 record, but are 2-1 over the last three games. They earned a 4-3 victory over Siena and a 7-0 victory over Marist. The Bison were shutout in four of their matches and only a loss to Saint Joseph's was by one point.
 
All-Time vs. Bucknell
The Bison hold a 7-4 all-time advantage over the Red Flash. Bucknell started the series with five straight wins before Saint Francis followed with a four-game winning streak. Bucknell enters Saturday's matchup with two series wins in a row, both 5-2.   
 
Scouting Lehigh
Lehigh enters Sunday's match with a 2-2 record. The Mountain Hawks' largest margin of victory was 6-1 over Marist on Feb. 5. They lost 4-3 to Morgan State, who the Red Flash defeated 4-3 on Jan. 23. They will face Siena on Saturday ahead of a match with the Red Flash.  
 
All-Time vs. Lehigh
The Mountain Hawks hold a 7-1 all-time advantage over the Red Flash. Lehigh started the series with five straight wins before Saint Francis earned their only victory in 2017, 5-2. The Mountain Hawks have won two games in a row, most recently a 7-0 victory in 2020.

Women's Last Time Out
The Red Flash dropped both matches of a doubleheader against Youngstown State, 6-1, and Bowling Green, 5-2. Nagisa Miyake recorded the only Red Flash victory against Youngstown State with her 6-1, 6-3 No. 6 singles win. Romina Cutipa's 7-5, 6-4 win in No. 5 singles and Anoek Pruijmboom's 6-2, 7-6 (7-2) win in No. 5 singles were the two victories against Bowling Green.
 
Scouting Bucknell
Bucknell enters Saturday's matchup with a 6-1 record, its only loss 5-2 to Buffalo. The Bison defeated notable opponents Villanova, 4-3, and Seton Hall, 4-2. They are 1-0 against Northeast Conference schools with a 4-3 win over Bryant on Feb. 19. They are riding a currently four-game winning streak.
 
All-Time vs. Bucknell
The Bison hold a 6-3 all-time advantage over the Red Flash. Bucknell started with the first-two wins, before Saint Francis won three of the next four matches between 2014-18. The Bison are currently riding a three-game winning streak.
 
Scouting Lehigh
Lehigh enters Sunday's matchup with a 1-2 record after back-to-back 6-1 losses to Drexel and Stony Brook. The Mountain Hawks earned their only win of the season 4-3 over Marist. They will face Siena on Saturday ahead of a match with the Red Flash.
 
All-Time vs. Lehigh
The Mountain Hawks hold an 8-1 all-time advantage over the Red Flash. Saint Francis earned its only victory of the series in the inaugural matchup on Feb. 5, 2012. Lehigh is on a current eight-game winning streak in the series.

Saint Francis men's and women's tennis host Mercyhurst on Tuesday, March 1 at 11 a.m. Men's match is played at the Ebensburg Tennis Center, while the women play at the Gorilla House Gym.
