Men’s and Women’s Tennis Host Mercyhurst on Tuesday

LORETTO, Pa. – Saint Francis University men's and women's tennis returns home to face Mercyhurst on Tuesday, March 1 at 11 a.m. Men's tennis plays at the Ebensburg Tennis Center, while the women play at the Gorilla House Gym.

Men's Last Time Out
The Red Flash dropped a match at Lehigh 7-0. Marc Fuste had the closest margin of defeat in singles with his No. 4 loss 6-2, 2-6, 4-6. In doubles, Saint Francis dropped all-three matches, though the No. 2 match was a close 6-7 (4-7) defeat for Sebastian Pinos and Andrew Teixeira.  
 
Scouting Mercyhurst
Mercyhurst enters Tuesday's match with a 2-4 overall record, most recently a 6-1 loss to St. Bonaventure. The Lakers hold a 2-2 record at home, with back-to-back 7-0 sweeps of Salem on Feb. 18 and West Virginia State on Feb. 20.
 
All-Time vs. Mercyhurst
The Lakers hold a 2-0 all-time advantage over the Red Flash in the past two seasons. Mercyhurst started the matchup with a 7-0 victory in 2020 and followed it up with a 5-2 win in 2021. In the last meeting, Saint Francis earned the doubles point with win in No. 1 by Pinos and Teixeira and No. 3 by Jordi Garcia and Samuel Ghigiarelli. Ghigiarelli earned Saint Francis' only singles point with a 6-4, 5-7, 13-11 win in No. 6.

Women's Last Time Out
The Red Flash dropped a match 4-2 to Lehigh on Sunday. Anoek Pruijmboom won her first appearance in No. 2 singles 6-7 (5-7), 6-1, 7-5 and moved to 9-2 this season. Nagisa Miyake earned the other Red Flash victory 7-5, 6-2 in No. 5 singles.
 
Scouting Mercyhurst
The Lakers enter Tuesday's match with a 2-4 overall record and are 1-3 during the spring season. Their only win in the spring was a 6-0 shutout of Salem on Feb. 18. They defeated Division I member Binghamton on Oct. 23, 4-3. They most recently suffered a 5-2 loss to St. Bonaventure, who the Red Flash defeated on Feb. 13, 4-3.
 
All-Time vs. Mercyhurst
The Red Flash hold a 2-0 all-time advantage over the Lakers over the past two seasons. They earned a 4-3 victory in 2021 and a 5-2 victory in 2020. Current Saint Francis players Dominique Yeo, Anouk Ma-Ajong, Miyake and Romina Cutipa led the team to its last victory. Both matches were played in Erie, Pa.
