Men’s Volleyball Steps Back into Conference This Weekend

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
Saint Francis University men's volleyball will hit the road this weekend for two conference matches. The Red Flash will take on the Patriots of George Mason University on Friday, March 18 at 7:00 p.m. and the Tigers of Princeton University on Saturday, March 19 at 5:00 p.m.
 
Friday's match can be followed with Live Stats and live on ESPN+. While Saturday's match can be followed on Live Stats and on watched live on Stretch Live.
 
The Red Flash are currently ranked second in the EIVA at 6-2 in the conference.
 
THE WORD ON THE PATRIOTS
George Mason men's volleyball has dropped its last three matches in a road trip to Calif. Most recently, the Patriots took a loss to UC Irvine. Richie Hoff led his squad in kills and aces with 13 and three, respectively. While Lucas Little put up seven blocks and Omar Hoyos collected 11 digs in the match.
 
The Patriots stand at 7-10 overall and 2-5 in conference. Jack Bolz currently ranks in the top five for the EIVA in kills per set and overall kills. While Hoyos stands at the top for the EIVA in kills, digs per set, overall digs and service aces per set.
 
THE WORD ON THE TIGERS
Just like George Mason, Princeton University has dropped in its last three matches. The Tigers most recently took a loss to a non-conference opponent in Ball State. The Cardinals defeated the Tigers in straight sets. Ben Harrington led Princeton in the recent loss with 12 kills and two serving aces. While Joe Kelly led the Tigers with 30 assists and eight digs.
 
The Tigers will face Penn State at home on Friday, March 18 before taking on the Red Flash on Saturday, March 19 at 5:00 p.m. Princeton University currently stands at 5-11 overall and 4-5 in the EIVA. Harrington is second in the EIVA in aces per set 0.55.
 
LAST TIME OUT
Most recently, the Red Flash defeated Fairleigh Dickinson University and Ohio State University to stay undefeated at home.
 
In the team's 3-1 upset over the Buckeyes of Ohio State, Joshua Blair, Blake Liprando and Nathan Zini put up a combined 37 kills. While Thomas Leahey led the Red Flash overall in service aces and blocks with two and four, respectively. Andrew Deardorff matched his career single game high of eight digs and AJ Schmidt set up 46 assists for his squad.
 
LAST TIME WE MET
The Red Flash lead the overall record against the Patriots at 12-4. The last time Saint Francis and George Mason faced one another was earlier this season in DeGol Arena. The Red Flash defeated the Fairfax, Va., squad in straight sets. Saint Francis has claimed the victory over the Patriots in the last four matchups.
 
The Tigers lead the overall record with the Red Flash at 14-37. The last time the two programs met was earlier this season in Loretto, Pa., in which the Red Flash defeated the Tigers over four sets.
 
UP NEXT
After this weekend's matches, this Red Flash will start a six-game home stretch that will be started by a matchup to Sacred Heart University on Friday, March 25 at 7:00 p.m.
