» Nathan Godbout (St. George, Vt.) sits 10th after the first round of the NKU The Jewell to power the Saint Francis University men's golf team on Sunday.
» Godbout shot a three-over par round of 74 on theb day thanks to birdies on No. 6 and No. 12, along with 11 pars and five bogeys to end the first round nine strokes behind the current leader.
» All five of the team players registered at least one birdie on the afternoon, while Godbout and J.W. Cunningham (McMurray, Pa.) each had two in the opening round.
» As a team, the Red Flash shot a 303 to sit in seventh place.
FLASH MOMENTS
Cunningham, who had birdies on No. 5 and No. 15 is in 21st place after carding a four-over round of 75. He registered 10 pars in the first round.
Marc-Antoine Hotte (Mascouche, Qurebec) posted a five-over par round to sit in 26th place. Hotte started his day with a birdie on the opening hole and also carded 11 pars.
Luke Minsky (Wexford, Pa.) (39th place, 78) and
Avery Papalia (Marlton, N.J.) (70th place, 84) rounded out the team competitors. Minsky registered a birdie on No. 3 to go along with 10 pars, while Papalia started his day similar to Hotte with a birdie and then had six pars.
Alex Kiepert (Ebensburg, Pa.) (76th place, 87) competed as an individual and had six pars in his opening round.
Youngstown State and Chicago State lead the two-day, two-round event with a score od 293, one stroke ahead of Purdue Fort Wayne (294). Cleveland State (298) and Xavier (295) and host Northern Kenticky (299) round out the Top-5 teams. Saint Francis is seventh thanks to its round of 303.

The Red Flash will tee off the final round of the Jewell on Monday from the 10th tee starting with Kiepert at 8:50 a.m. Papalia (9:10 a.m.), Minsky (9:20 a.m.), Hotte (9:30 a.m.), Cunningham (9:40 a.m.) and Godbout (9:50 a.m.).
