» Marc-Antoine Hotte (Mascouche, Quebec) shot an even-par round of 72 to sit tied for first place and pace the Saint Francis University men's golf team after one round at the Northeast Conference Men's Golf Championships on Friday.
» Hotte shot a two under on the first nine holes thanks to birdies on holes three, five, seven and eight. He had bogeys on No. 1 and 6 and pars on holes two, four and nine for a 34 to start his day.
» After starting the back nine with two bogeys, Hotte posted pars on his next four holes before his fifth birdie of the afternoon one No. 16. He wrapped up his day with a par and a bogey to post an even-round of 72.
» Saint Francis wrapped up the first round in second place.
FLASH MOMENTS
J.W. Cunningham (McMurray, Pa.) finished his day four strokes behind Hotte with a round of 76 to sit in seventh place after the opening day. Cunningham registered a birdie on two of his first four holes (No. 1 and 4) and also had three pars, three bogeys and a double bogey to finish the first nine holes with a three-over score of 39. Cunningham started the back nine with five-straight pars and then had a pair of birdies on No. 15 and 16 to go two under on the back nine and one over through 16 holes. A triple bogey on No. 17 and a par wrapped up his afternoon.
Avery Papalia (Marlton, N.J.) sits in 20th place with a round of 79. He registered 12 pars, five bogeys and a double bogey in his first round.
Luke Minsky (Wexford, Pa.) (27th place, 80) and
Nathan Godbout (St. George, Vt.) (32nd place, 87) round out the Red Flash competitors. Minsky had a birdie on No. 4 to go along with 10 pars, six bogeys and a triple bogey. Godbout posted nine pars, six bogeys, a double bogey and two bogeys of three or more strokes.
Mount St. Mary's leads the three-day event with a score of 304, three strokes ahead of the Red Flash (307). LIU (308), Sacred Heart (309), Fairleigh Dickinson (311), Bryant (312) and Wagner (327) round out the field.

Saint Francis returns to action in the second round of the NEC Men's Golf Championships on Saturday. The Red Flash will be paired with Mount St. Mary's and LIU for the second round. Godbout will be the first one to tee off of hole number one at 9:20 a.m. and will be followed by Minsky (9:30 a.m.), Papalia (9:40 a.m.), Cunningham (9:50 a.m.) and Hotte will be the last Red Flash on the course at 10 a.m.
