LORETTO, Pa. – The Saint Francis University outdoor track & field teams swept the final Rookie and Field Athlete of the Week honors for the 2022 outdoor season when the Northeast Conference (NEC) announced its weekly awards Tuesday.

Kaitlyn Maxwell (Everett, Pa.) and
Dustin Hyde (Somerset, Pa.) earned the Rookie of the Week honor, while
Madeline Murphy (Cresson, Pa.) and
Nickolas Hyde (Somerset, Pa.) were named Field Athlete of the Week.

The honors come after impressive performances from the four athletes at the Red Flash Open.

Maxwell won the 800m with a league leading time of 2:17.37. The rookie is now ranked eighth Saint Francis all-time in the event.

Maxwell is also a part of the third fastest 4x400m relay team in the conference with a time of 3:55.40. The team including
Rhoda Alaban-Tafon (Glen Burnie, Md.),
Mylan Crews (West Alexandria, Ohio),
Emily Lunger (Sayre, Pa.) and Maxwell placed first at the Bucknell Team Challenge.

Hyde leads all freshmen in the NEC in the discus and shot put. Hyde's personal best mark of 46.10m in the discus ranks seventh Saint Francis all-time. The freshman's third place 16.59m shot put ranks third Saint Francis all-time.

Hyde has placed in the top-ten nine times across discus and shot put events this outdoor season.

Murphy broke the Saint Francis long jump and triple records on Saturday. The junior rewrote the 21-year-old long jump record by nearly six inches. The previous record of 5.86m was set by Nicole Armfield in May 2001 at the NEC Championships. Murphy's mark of 5.83m also broke the meet and facility records.

Murphy replaced her own triple jump school record with a victorious mark of 12.47m. Murphy originally set the school record three weeks ago. Murphy's performance also broke the meet and facility records. Murphy leads the NEC in the event.

Hyde broke his own school record in the shot put with a mark of 18.03m. Hyde originally set the school record one year ago with a mark of 17.82m. Hyde's performance also established new meet and facility records.

Hyde currently leads all competitors in the NEC in the shot put. The junior ranks 65th in the NCAA.

The Red Flash will be competing at the NEC Championships in Emmitsburg, Maryland Saturday, May 7 – Sunday, May 8.
