>> Saint Francis University men's volleyball will head to the west coast for its 2023 season opener at Stanford for back-to-back matches against The Cardinal Friday, Jan. 6 at 10 p.m. EST./7 p.m. PST. and Saturday, Jan. 7 at 8 p.m. EST./5 p.m. PST.

THE WORD ON THE CARDINAL
Stanford men's volleyball will also be opening its 2023 season this weekend against the Red Flash. The Cardinal competed in two exhibition games at home last week by defeating British Columbia in straight sets back-to-back. In addition, Stanford finished last season 14-14 overall and 4-8 in the MPSF. Stanford men's volleyball were picked to finish third in the MPSF by the league's coaches.
 
LAST TIME WE MET THE CARDINAL
The Red Flash hold the 2-0 advantage over The Cardinal. Saint Francis last defeated Stanford over five sets at home with a reverse sweep. 
 
LAST TIME OUT
The Red Flash finished last season 15-13 overall and 8-8 in the EIVA. The team finished the 2022 season at the EIVA with a straight set loss to Princeton. The Tigers would go on to win the EIVA Tournament and compete at the NCAA Men's Volleyball Tournament.
 
The 2023 season marks head coach Mike Rumbaugh's 25th season as a head coach and at Saint Francis.

Following this weekend's matches, the Red Flash will head to Hawaii to take on the Rainbow Warriors on Jan. 19 and 21.
